We are seeking a highly experienced Test Automation Architect for a long-term contract-to-hire opportunity. In this role, you will define, design, and implement advanced quality engineering and test automation frameworks across modern application suites. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in scripting languages (JavaScript and Python) and a proven track record of architecting scalable test frameworks using modern and enterprise tooling such as Playwright, UFT, or Tosca. While this position is fully remote, preference will be given to candidates based in or near the Greater Boston area.

Key Responsibilities

Architect & Design: Lead the strategy, architecture, and deployment of scalable, maintainable test automation frameworks for web, API, and enterprise applications.

Hands-on Development: Write high-quality, robust automation scripts using JavaScript and Python.

Tool Evaluation & Integration: Evaluate, select, and integrate test tools (e.g., Playwright, Micro Focus UFT, Tricentis Tosca) into modern CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab, etc.).

Technical Leadership: Serve as the primary quality engineering authority, establishing automation standards, best practices, and execution metrics across development teams.

Collaboration: Partner closely with software architects, DevOps engineers, and product stakeholders to drive shift-left testing principles and optimize test coverage.

Optimization: Diagnose complex framework bottlenecks, reduce flaky tests, and ensure maximum execution speed and reliability.

Required Qualifications & Experience

Experience Level: 10 to 12+ years of progressive experience in software quality engineering, with at least 3–5 years functioning as a Test Automation Architect or Lead.

Scripting Mastery: Expert-level proficiency in JavaScript and Python for script writing, framework building, and API manipulation.

Tool Expertise: Deep hands-on experience with modern automation frameworks and tools such as Playwright, UFT, Tosca, or similar enterprise platforms.

CI/CD & DevOps Integration: Demonstrated success embedding automated test suites into continuous integration and delivery pipelines.

Architecture & Strategy: Strong background in defining automation strategies from scratch, selecting tool stacks, and mentoring engineering teams on implementation.

Location: Remote availability within the US; Greater Boston, MA area localization is strongly preferred.
