Full Description
Build it. Test it. Improve it. Join our team in a hands-on student role where you will help develop, assemble and validate test equipment and prototype devices. Proponent is in the process of developing 3 new devices: a new Battery Filler, a new Charger/Analyzer and a new Battery Cell Measurement system. As we have entered the final phase of development, we require a dedicated resource to focus on testing. This will allow us to complete the development within the planned schedule, ensure a high level of product quality, and reduce the risk of future customer claims. You will combine practical engineering with test automation, controls, CAD and 3D printing.
01 BUILD
Assemble, wire and commission test benches and prototype devices.
02 TEST
Run functional, endurance and load tests, then record measurement series.
03 AUTOMATE
Support PLC and Python programming, Raspberry Pi controllers, CAD and 3D-printed parts.
Job Responsibilities
*** Test bench setup:** Assemble, wire and commission test rigs for new device developments.
*** Testing:** Run functional, endurance and load tests, and record measurement series accurately.
*** Documentation:** Prepare clear test reports and technical documentation.
*** Programming:** Support PLC programming in CODESYS and write Python scripts for test automation.
*** Raspberry Pi work:** Commission and test Raspberry Pi-based controllers and prototypes.
*** Assembly and device build:** Support mechanical assembly, wiring and construction of devices and prototypes.
*** CAD and 3D printing:** Create or adjust simple parts and support rapid prototyping through 3D printing.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Currently enrolled in electrical engineering, mechatronics, mechanical engineering, automation technology or a related technical degree.
- A practical, hands-on approach and confidence using tools, wiring components and measurement equipment,
- Basic knowledge of Python; exposure to PLC programming, CODESYS or Raspberry Pi is an advantage.
- Interested in test engineering, prototype development, CAD and 3D printing.
- A structured and safety-conscious way of working, with attention to accurate documentation.
- Curiosity, reliability and the ability to work independently while collaborating with engineers.
- Excellent communication skills in German and English,
- 1-year on-site work assignment for 20 hours per week.
Competencies for Success
*** Functional / Technical Skills:** uses technical knowledge in wiring, controls, testing, Python, CAD and prototype construction.
*** Action Oriented:** enjoys practical work, takes initiative and moves quickly from an idea to a working setup.
*** Problem Solving:** diagnoses faults, interprets measurements and identifies workable solutions during development and testing.
*** Learning on the Fly:** learns unfamiliar tools, components and software through experimentation and feedback.
*** Technical Learning:** quickly understands new technologies and applies them to test equipment and prototypes.
*** Priority Setting:** balances build, test, documentation and study commitments within a part-time schedule.
*** Process Management:** follows repeatable test steps, records data consistently and supports reliable test execution.
*** Informing:** communicates test status, observations and results clearly through reports and technical documentation.
*** Peer Relationships:** works constructively with engineers and other colleagues during assembly, testing and troubleshooting.
*** Perseverance:** stays focused when tests fail, faults are difficult to reproduce, or repeated test cycles are required.
