Top 3 responsibilities

Conduct internal audits of maintenance, operations, and safety systems in line with Transport Canada CARs Subpart 573, 706, and related standards; document findings and manage CAPA

Ensure compliance with MPM, MCM, QA Program, and SMS; liaise with base managers, technical staff, and regulatory authorities

Support investigations and root cause analysis; contribute to QA/SMS process and training program enhancements
Must-have skills

Regulatory-based qualification: TC AME license (or equivalent) for ≥2 years, or equivalent aviation QA/maintenance experience; OR 2+ years in TC-approved AMO/air operator/military role

Diploma in Aircraft Maintenance, Aerospace Engineering Technology, or related field; minimum 5 years in civil/military aviation

Strong written/verbal technical communication; impartiality and integrity in safety/QA; independent, field-ready work capability

Knowledge of CARs, aircraft maintenance programs, continuing airworthiness; experience with AMP/aircraft reliability is a plus

Job Description Job Summary The Aviation Safety and Quality Assurance Inspector is responsible for ensuring organizational compliance with applicable Civil Aviation Regulations (CARs), company-approved maintenance procedures, and client contractual requirements. This role supports continuous improvement through systematic internal audits, inspections, and proactive risk identification, contributing to a robust Safety Management System (SMS) and aviation Quality Assurance (QA) framework. This position may require periodic travel to operational sites to conduct audits or represent the Safety & Quality Assurance Department during external inspections and regulatory audits. Key Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive internal audits and evaluations of maintenance, operational, and safety systems, in alignment with Transport Canada CARs Subpart 573, 706, and associated standards. Responsible to the Safety and Quality Assurance Manager. Ensure compliance with the company’s Maintenance Policy Manual (MPM), Maintenance Control Manual (MCM), Quality Assurance Program, and SMS framework. Document audit findings, generate technical reports, and ensure timely follow-up on corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). Liaise with base managers, technical personnel, and regulatory authorities to promote safety and quality best practices. Support investigation and root cause analysis of safety and quality issues, non-conformities, and internal occurrences. Actively contribute to the development and continuous enhancement of QA and SMS processes, procedures, and training programs. Maintain a high standard of impartiality, confidentiality, and technical integrity during all QA/SMS activities. Qualifications
Candidates must meet at least one of the following regulatory-based requirements
a. Hold, or have held, a valid Transport Canada Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) License, or a foreign equivalent, for a period of not less than two (2) years;
- or
b. Hold, or have held, the Canadian military equivalent (Level A or Level C) to a TC AME License for a period of not less than two (2) years;
- or
c. Have, for a period of not less than two (2) years, been employed in a Aircraft maintenance or quality assurance role with a Transport Canada-approved AMO, air operator, flight training unit, or military/foreign equivalent.
Additional Qualifications
- Diploma in Aircraft Maintenance, Aerospace Engineering Technology, or related field (minimum: community college level or equivalent).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the civil or military aviation industry.
- Familiarity with SMS principles, QA methodologies, and root cause analysis tools (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagram, HFACS) is considered a significant asset.
- Knowledge of Human Factors, Continuing Airworthiness, and ICAO Annex 19 principles is an advantage.
- Background in Aircraft Maintenance mandatory.
- Have knowledge of CAR’s and Aircraft Maintenance programs and requirements.
- Experience in AMP (Aircraft Maintenance program) management and/or Aircraft Reliability program is considered an asset.
- Proficiency in written and verbal technical communication (internal and external reporting).
- Demonstrated integrity, impartiality, and objectivity in safety/QA functions.
- Proficient in MS Office applications and adaptable to digital QA systems.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and multitasking skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in the field or remote settings.
