About The Role
Responsive is looking for a dynamic Quality Engineering (QE) Manager to lead the overall quality strategy, delivery excellence, and innovation across multiple product lines. The QE Manager will be responsible for defining quality goals, scaling QE practices, and enabling a high-performing team that ensures consistent, high-quality releases. You will work closely with engineering, product, and DevOps leaders to drive end-to-end quality ownership and continuous improvement across the SDLC.
Essential Responsibilities
Define and execute the organizations QE vision, roadmap, and strategy aligned with business and product goals. Lead, mentor, and grow a team of QEs and QE Leads, fostering a culture of ownership, collaboration, and innovation. Establish quality KPIs and drive continuous improvements in efficiency, automation, and defect prevention.
Test Governance & Delivery
Oversee quality assurance across multiple projects or product streams ensuring consistent test coverage, traceability, and reporting. Implement risk-based test strategies and ensure compliance with QA standards, processes, and best practices. Ensure on-time delivery of quality deliverables, managing test planning, estimation, and resource allocation.
Automation & Technology Enablement
Drive test automation strategy across functional, API, UI, Security, and performance layers using modern frameworks (Playwright, Cypress, Karate, JMeter, etc.). Collaborate with other stakeholders to strengthen CI/CD quality gates, shift-left testing, and continuous validation practices. Evaluate new tools and technologies to enhance QE maturity and productivity.
Stakeholder Management & Collaboration
Partner with Product Managers, Engineering, and Release teams to ensure clear quality expectations and smooth delivery cycles. Act as a key escalation point for quality issues, providing insights and solutions proactively. Communicate quality status, risks, and metrics to leadership and business stakeholders.
Process Excellence & Innovation
Drive process optimization, test data management, and defect prevention initiatives across the organization. Encourage innovation within the QE teampromoting experimentation with AI/ML-based testing and analytics-driven quality insights.
What we are looking for
Education
Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
Experience
1214 years of experience in software testing and quality engineering, with 6+ years in leadership or management roles. Proven experience managing large-scale testing programs in Agile/Scrum environments.
Skill, Qualification & Ability
Deep understanding of test automation frameworks, CI/CD, security testing, performance testing, and API testing. Hands-on expertise with tools such as Playwright, Cypress, Karate, JMeter, Postman, or equivalent. Experience leading distributed QE teams and managing multiple project portfolios. Strong analytical, decision-making, and stakeholder management skills. Experience in SaaS, Cloud, or enterprise-scale applications preferred. Excellent communication and leadership abilities with a passion for mentoring and scaling teams. Strategic mindset with the ability to balance hands-on involvement and managerial oversight. Track record of implementing measurable quality improvements across the product lifecycle. Exposure to AI/ML-assisted testing or data-driven quality analytics.
