Job Summary Nidec Aerospace is seeking a qualified Electronic Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) in Aerospace, responsible for ensuring that electronic components and assemblies sourced from suppliers meet stringent aerospace quality and reliability standards. This role involves supplier selection and qualification, process audits, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across the supply base, with a strong focus on PCBA manufacturing and compliance with AS9100D and IPC standards Class 3. Job Description The individual is responsible for Lead the supplier approval process, conduct the quality systems audit process on site to include follow up and closure of open items discovered during audits. Qualify new suppliers and assess their manufacturing capabilities aligned with Design Engineers for aerospace requirements. Lead cross-functional between suppliers and designers for driving resolution to quality issues Conduct process audits and monitor supplier performance against AS9100D standards and AS9145 APQP-PPAP. Collaborate with suppliers to resolve quality issues and drive continuous improvement. Quality Issue Resolution: Serve as the primary contact for supplier quality issues, drive root cause analysis and implement corrective/preventive actions using tools like 8D and Six Sigma methodology. Define and execute quality processes for incoming aerospace-grade electronic parts. Manage Incoming Inspection and source inspection activities. Ensure suppliers meet aerospace design and AS9100 quality requirements and IPC standards. Identify risks in the aerospace supply chain and implement mitigation strategies. Drive reliability improvements throughout the aerospace product lifecycle Lead or support root cause analysis for supplier-related defects. Monitor and verify effectiveness of supplier’s quality improvements. Follow up closely First Article Inspections (FAI) in accordance with AS9102 with suppliers Maintain the Approved Supplier List (ASL) and review supplier documentation, including quality records and traceability. Support quality team (QE/APQP) Ability, willingness to travel domestically and internationally, sometimes on short notice Assist suppliers to maintain 100% PPAP compliance for all pre-preproduction builds and production builds. Technical Attributes and Experience Proficiency in PCBA manufacturing processes including SMT, THT and Boc Build. Familiarity with IPC-610 standards, Class 3 products and aerospace-grade electronic testing methods. Experience with design reviews and supplier quality management including ME, QE for driving resolution to quality issues Working knowledge of FMEA, APQP- PPAP, 8D, and other aerospace quality methodologies. Strong problem-solving and data analysis capabilities. Experience conducting third-party audits and interpreting quality metrics in aerospace environments. Excellent communication and negotiation skills. Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration with internal teams and external aerospace suppliers. Bilingual: Spanish and English proficient PREFERRED: Prior and demonstrable strong experience in supplier quality, manufacturing engineering, or supplier development within the aerospace electronics or PCBA industry. In-depth knowledge of AS9100D, AS9145 and AS9102 standards. Minimum Requirements (proficiency levels aligned to job level) Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field.
