QA/QC Engineer – Data Center Retrofit (Onsite)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced QA/QC Engineer to support a mission-critical data center retrofit project for a major General Contractor. This role is hands-on and field-based, responsible for ensuring quality execution across electrical, mechanical, and critical infrastructure systems on an active hyperscale data center campus.
The ideal candidate has prior data center QA/QC experience, preferably on retrofit or live-environment projects, and is comfortable working closely with construction, commissioning, and owner teams to maintain strict quality, safety, and documentation standards.
Key Responsibilities
Perform field quality inspections for electrical and mechanical scopes, including Electrical distribution (switchgear, UPS, generators, busway, panels) & Mechanical systems (chillers, CRAHs/CRACs, piping, pumps, controls) Verify work complies with approved drawings, specifications, and industry standards Conduct inspections during installation, testing, and turnover phases Identify deficiencies and generate punch lists, NCRs, and corrective action reports Track and close quality issues in coordination with construction and subcontractor teams Review and validate ITPs, test reports, redlines, and as-built documentation Support turnover and readiness activities alongside commissioning teams Maintain accurate daily and weekly quality reporting Participate in site walks, coordination meetings, and quality reviews Ensure all work adheres to mission-critical best practices and safety requirements
Required Qualifications
5+ years of QA/QC experience in mission-critical, industrial, or large commercial construction Data center experience required (new build or retrofit) Strong understanding of MEP systems in mission-critical environments Experience performing QC in live or retrofit data center environments strongly preferred Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specs, and submittals Strong documentation, reporting, and communication skills Comfortable working onsite full time in an active construction environment
