The Civil Engineer will design, plan, and supervise the construction of various projects such as buildings, bridges, roads, water, and sewage systems. The ideal candidate will enjoy solving problems and have the ability to dig into a situation to find all factors, weigh the options, and provide the customer with the best possible solution. The ideal candidate will apply their knowledge to engineering principles and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Consulting and design – Advise and lead team members in all required engineering needs for assigned projects. This includes changes, repairs, and construction design through the use of software and drawing tools. Assess the strength of foundations, concrete, asphalt, and steel by testing materials and soil. Assign specifications to the project by computing load and grade requirements, material stress factors, water flow rates, and similar parameters.
• Project management – Plan projects based on the review of drawings, sketches, blueprints, aerial photography and other geologic and topographic data. Estimate material and equipment needed in addition to labor to identify the cost of the project. Work with architects and contractors to ensure project progress and success.
• Market prospecting – Identify markets for future product development and create ways to improve sales of existing products by analyzing business trends.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required; Master's degree preferred
• Licensure as a professional engineer (PE) required
• Understanding of civil engineering principles, practices, and tools
• Proficient in computer-assisted design (CAD) and other design, data recording, and analyzation software
• Understanding of materials, methods, and tools involved in the construction or repair of buildings, bridges, roads, and other related structures
