Job Purpose Provide comprehensive support for engineering, performance, and functional testing using dynamometer benches, thermal chambers for environmental testing, vibration tables for durability testing, and larger testing capabilities.End-to-end involvement in testing complex systems, ensuring accuracy, safety, and efficiency. Combine technical knowledge and operational oversight, meaning not only execution but also planning, analysis, and resource allocation.Job Duties and Responsibilities Core Mandate
Prior to the Test: Emphasizes proactive planning; strong organizational skills needed to anticipate issues.• Review and approve test plans to ensure they meet standards for safety, feasibility, and objectives. • Develop test procedures and prepare test sequences (e.g., scripts or protocols for automated testing).
During the Test: High-pressure phase requiring quick thinking, technical depth, and team coordination. Knowledge of lab protocols is key.• Assist assigned technicians in running test sequences—hands-on collaboration, not solo work.• Troubleshoot test environment issues (e.g., equipment malfunctions, setup errors).• Provide expertise to product owners for investigating product-related problems (e.g., failures in electronics or mechanics).• Maintain, improve, and ensure functionality of the test bench—includes ongoing upgrades and preventive maintenance.• Supervise all test cell activities: Leadership aspect, overseeing safety and compliance.• Real-time validation of results: Monitor execution to confirm proper performance, allowing for immediate adjustments.
After the Test: Analytical and communicative focus; reports could influence product iterations, so precision in documentation is crucial.• Review test data for success verification—analyze outputs to confirm validity and completeness.• Write and review test reports: Document findings, insights, and recommendations clearly.• Support program teams on failures: Root cause analysis and resolution guidance.
Education and Qualifications Education and Experience: Breadth in interdisciplinary knowledge is key.
Technical Knowledge: Role demands practical lab skills
Lab equipment familiarity: Oscilloscope, multimeter, accelerometer, thermocouples & RTDs, flow meters, pressure transducers, etc.—standard tools for diagnostics and measurements.
Data acquisition software: Proficiency in for scripting and automation with tools such as LabView and TestStand.• Constant alignment of ongoing activities across different communication mediums: bench status logbook (Excel), test plan follower (Excel), project group chat (Teams), task management platform (JIRA)
