Overview Joby Aviation is seeking a highly organized, passionate individual to join our Testing team. As part of this team, you will contribute to the development and the commercialization of flightcritical components and systems for VTOL electric aircraft. The Joby Aviation team is made up of extremely talented, hardworking, proactive, and hands-on individuals, operating in a very fast-paced and rewarding environment. We are looking to expand this team with likeminded individuals looking to make a mark in the transportation industry. Responsibilities Support the testing on the external charging system for the aircraft, including but not limited to environmental, mechanical, and electrical tests. Setup, execute, and monitor validation, certification, and reliability tests at component and system level as per approved test plan. Build and maintain custom test jigs for testing charging ports, battery cooling system, and battery charging systems. Work closely with Test Engineers and Equipment Design Engineers to provide support in assembling, maintaining, and operating in-house designed test rigs, stands and fixtures. Support Test Engineers with assembling e-boxes, contactors, and fuse assemblies with minimal supervision. Install industry-standard instrumentation, sensors, and data acquisition systems, such as but not limited to foil strain gauges and accelerometers. Build wiring harness, soldering of electronics, and overall electrical craftsmanship. Aid in the development of technical work procedures and process documentation. Maintain a clean workspace and inventory of tools and equipment. Required Experiences with external charging systems that provide high power, high voltage, and high current. Experience with hydronic systems, building coolant loops, and performing leak tests. Experience with handling and operating near high power density cells, modules, and packs. Knowledge of basic safety steps working around battery (risk prevention and mitigation). Experience with reading mechanical design and manufacturing drawing. Experience with component assembly and systems integration of electronics. Positive attitude and willingness to work individually and as part of a team. Excellent problem-solving & continuous improvement skills, analytical, multi-tasking. Hands-on attitude and detail-oriented work habits in testing environment. Ability to operate and maintain a wide variety of instrumentation and analytical tools, hand and power tools and HV equipment.
H. S Diploma or GED or 5+ years equivalent industry work experience.
