RF Test Engineer As a Test Engineer at MACOM, you will partner with New Product Development teams to develop and support advanced RF test solutions. You will be challenged by a diverse mix of new products, applications and technologies as MACOM serves a broad spectrum of high performance markets “from RF to light”. You will also be responsible for supporting the transfer of test solutions to contract manufacturing partners, typically overseas. Your skills and knowledge related to RF/DC test and measurement instruments and methods will be key to your success, as will your attention to detail, ability to communicate ideas and your passion for excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Product Engineering and Yield Engineering to specify appropriate test plans.
  • Specify, acquire and integrate test equipment required to support specified test plans.
  • Develop, deploy and support complete test solutions for high performance RF products.
  • Support transfer of test solutions to contract manufacturing partners, domestic & overseas.
  • Respond to and support low yielding lots to identify and remedy any test related root causes.
  • Establish and comply with test standardizations including HW, SW, methods and procedures.
  • Implement robust monitoring methodologies enabling early detection of excursions in yield and equipment performance before product is impacted and production resources are wasted.
  • Drive metrics such as total cost of test, including instrumentation, fixtures, test time and yield.
  • Collaborate with Product Engineering, Yield Engineering and Manufacturing
  • Engineering to achieve robust test solution performance in support of yield, quality and productivity goals

Qualifications

  • BS in EE and a minimum of 4 years of experience in RF test engineering and test solution development. Candidates with more advanced degrees and/or more experience are preferred.
  • Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for test software and hardware.
  • Advanced knowledge of RF test instruments, fixtures, measurements and methods.
  • Detail oriented with strong fundamentals in core test engineering principles.
  • Fluency in C, C++, C# and/or LabWindows/CVI required. Practical experience with HT Basic, VEE Visual Basic, Perl and LabVIEW desirable. Familiarity with both Linux and MS Windows OS’s.
  • Working knowledge and practical experience applying Gauge R&R or ANOVA to test solutions.
  • Mature data analysis skills using tools such as JMP, Minitab, Spotfire and Excel/Access.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Initiative to address and appropriately escalate problems to achieve rapid resolution.
  • Ability to work effectively with engineering peer groups such as Product Engineering, Yield engineering and Manufacturing Engineering in a dynamic, collaborative and results oriented environment.
  • Practical experience applying Shainin, Six Sigma or other problem-solving methods is a plus.
  • Working knowledge and practical experience with SPC, DOE and hypothesis testing is a plus.

  • The Salary Range for this position is $59,000 - $96,000. Actual salary offered to candidates will depend on several factors, including but not limited to, work location, relevant candidates’ experience, education, and specific knowledge, skills, and abilities.
