Position Summary Software QA Engineer: Debugs software products through the use of systematic tests to develop, apply, and maintain quality standards for company products. Develops, modifies, and executes software test plans, automated scripts and programs for testing. Analyzes and writes test standards and procedures. Maintains documentation of test results to assist in debugging and modification of software. Analyzes test results to ensure existing functionality and recommends corrective action. Consults with development engineers in resolution of problems. Provides feedback in preparation of technical appraisals of programming languages, systems, and computation software. Ensures quality computer integration into the overall functions of scientific computation, data acquisition, and processing. Required Skills: Strong understanding of manual testing concepts (Test case/Test plan/Test Strategy/Defect management etc.) and Testing Methodologies/Techniques. Hands-on experience in testing web, mobile and/or desktop applications or game testing. Ability to design, review and optimize test plans, test cases, and overall QA strategy. Experience in leading QA efforts for projects, including task estimation, prioritization and reporting. Proven experience in mentoring and guiding junior QA team members. Strong SQL knowledge to query databases and validate data integrity. Experience working in Agile/Scrum development processes with close collaboration across teams. Familiarity with Defect Management and Test Management tools, with ability to drive process improvements. Excellent analytical, debugging and problem-solving skills with focus on root cause analysis. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills (written and verbal). Knowledge of API testing and exposure to test automation tools/frameworks is a plus. Good understanding of non-functional testing areas such as performance, usability and security (nice to have).
