Full Description

Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET)

Role

We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented SDET to join our CDI Data Engineering team. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust automated testing frameworks for our microservices architecture built on JHipster, Spring Boot, and React, running on Kubernetes in GCP. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in test automation, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-native development, with a proactive mindset to improve overall platform quality.

Responsibilities

Design and implement automated tests for REST APIs, GraphQL endpoints, event streams (Kafka), and frontend UI workflows. Build and maintain robust test automation frameworks for our Java-based microservices and React web apps. Collaborate with developers, DevOps engineers, and product managers to define test strategies, acceptance criteria, and QA best practices. Integrate automated tests into our CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GKE). Develop performance, load, and security tests for critical microservices. Identify and document bugs and performance issues, driving resolution with engineering teams. Build mocks, stubs, and test doubles for contract testing between services (e.g., using WireMock or Pact).

Requirements

Must-Haves

3–5+ years of experience in test automation or SDET role. Strong experience with Java-based test automation (JUnit/Testcontainers/Mockito). Experience testing REST APIs, asynchronous messaging (Kafka), and frontend UIs. Hands-on experience with CI/CD (GitHub Actions preferred). Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes). Strong understanding of software QA methodologies and tools. Good grasp of contract testing and microservice integration testing strategies.

Nice-to-Haves

Experience with JHipster or similar code generators. Familiarity with React UI testing (Jest, Cypress, Testing Library). Experience working with distributed systems, observability, and tracing tools. Prior exposure to Neo4j or other graph databases. Familiarity with OAuth2/Keycloak-based auth flows in test setups. Show more Show less
