The Assistant Director of Admissions at Northwestern University in Qatar (NU-Q) works closely with the Director of Admissions to drive global student application and enrollment growth and contributes to long-term strategic planning. Responsibilities include proposing, developing, executing, and monitoring outreach strategies, including leading recruitment tours with other universities, conducting school visits, participating in fairs, and hosting virtual events. The Assistant Director will be expected to maintain high visibility within industry-specific organizations and ensure continuous outreach to college counselors across the globe, to cultivate markets. The Assistant Director will interact with all appropriate external constituencies, including, but not limited to, secondary schools, foundation programs, colleges and universities, government agencies, and corporations. The role includes 10-15 weeks of travel for recruitment annually. In addition, the Assistant Director will be an active participant in the review and selection of admission application.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Develop a comprehensive data-driven recruitment strategy that supports admission and enrolment objectives. This includes
Identifying and assessing new market opportunities Use market insights and student mobility trends to guide recruitment efforts Provide oversight into recruitment activities Evaluate and manage relationships with regional partners and vendors
Act as the lead for several markets, participating in both regional and international recruitment and yield initiatives. This includes
Developing travel plans and comprehensive visit schedules Promoting programs at recruitment events and delivering student recruitment presentations, and disseminating information on admissions criteria, requirements and procedures Advising and providing detailed information to potential applicants, students, parents, and/or guidance counselors on admissions criteria and processes Tracking and monitoring recruitment activities Updating and maintaining records Supports local or small market recruiting activities as needed.
Reviewing And Assessing Student Applications For Admission. This Includes
Reading hundreds of applications and making informed decisions on admissibility during committee reviews Verifying the accuracy of information posted on digital platforms and updating/maintaining records Overseeing the applicant journey of priority student groups (ie, Transfer, Academic Bridge Program (ABP), Deferrals, etc.) Making informed referrals and supporting students Tracking and monitoring the distribution of financial aid & scholarships
Oversee the management of special events and tours hosted on- and off-campus. This includes
Internal stakeholders like Qatar Foundation (QF), Ministry of Education & Higher Education (MOEHE), Education City universities, etc. External stakeholders like CIS institutes/fairs, international counsellor fly-ins, high-profile dignitaries, tour operators (Wren, KIC, University Guys, etc.)
Work Closely With The Director Of Admissions And NU-Q’s Marketing Communications & Public Affairs And Communication Office To Provide Strategic Guidance And Support On Institutional Marketing Initiatives. This Includes
Writing and editing targeted communications to support strategic initiatives Developing content for marketing and/or promotional materials, swag, and print materials. Researching and evaluating emerging social media platforms across markets and partnerships Researching and recommending advertising opportunities
Directing the work of student staff and volunteers in defined activities. Assigning and checking the work and serving as a resource to others by providing (non-supervisory) job-related guidance.

Minimum Qualifications (education, Experience, Certifications, Skills)
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field Minimum of 5+ years of work experience in a highly selective university admissions environment Strong English oral and written communication, reading, and public speaking skills Must be able to relate positively to a variety of cultures and backgrounds Tact, diplomacy and discretion are essential in the ideal candidate Understanding of international education systems, student mobility trends, and global market dynamics, as well as English Language Proficiency Exams. Familiarity with global markets and ability to travel seamlessly internationally Solid understanding of university enrollment goals and ability to accurately translate into effective recruitment techniques with applicants, parents and guidance counselors.
Preferred Qualifications (Education, Experience, Certifications, Skills)
Master’s degree in a relevant field Proficiency in one or more additional languages Lived experience working in another jurisdiction Familiarity and background working with students from the MENA region Knowledge of Slate, PeopleSoft, SharePoint and/or other similar systems Demonstrated ability to effectively balance working in a team environment while working independently during nights and/or weekends with substantial domestic and international travel
The target hiring range for this position will be between $ 63,079 and $78,849 per year. The offered salary will be determined by the applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data .
