Job Description Summary: Job Profile Summary The Senior Software Engineer in Test & QA Coordinator for the Data Intelligence team is a hybrid role that combines deep technical expertise in test automation with leadership in quality assurance processes. This position designs, implements, and documents robust automation frameworks and enhancements, ensuring alignment with customer commitments and quality specifications. Acting as a technical mentor and resource for junior engineers, the role leads initiatives and complex problem-solving efforts that require advanced functional and technical knowledge. The individual takes ownership of medium to large deliverables, collaborates closely with engineering teams and stakeholders, and ensures that quality standards are embedded throughout the development lifecycle while driving strategic goals such as increasing test coverage and improving the balance between manual and automated testing. Additionally, the role is responsible for organizing and maintaining the testing infrastructure in alignment with the defined supported environments for each software release. The Senior Software Engineer in Test & QA Coordinator for the Data Intelligence team is a key contributor to both the technical and operational aspects of quality assurance. This role combines hands-on engineering with leadership responsibilities to ensure that software products meet stringent quality standards and customer expectations. The individual is accountable for designing, implementing, and documenting robust automation frameworks and features, correcting defects, and maintaining a scalable testing infrastructure aligned with supported environments for each release. Beyond technical execution, the position collaborates extensively with senior members of cross-functional teams - including development, product management, and operations - to define quality objectives, resolve complex issues, and deliver on customer commitments. Acting as a mentor and resource for junior engineers, the role leads initiatives, drives process improvements, and ensures that quality practices are embedded throughout the software development lifecycle. Strategically, the Senior Software Engineer in Test & QA Coordinator is responsible for advancing automation maturity by increasing test coverage, optimizing the balance between manual and automated testing, and reducing test cycle time without compromising reliability. The role also oversees test planning, environment readiness, and defect triage, ensuring smooth release execution and alignment with organizational quality goals. Success in this position requires a blend of technical depth, leadership capability, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement in both tools and processes. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Validate software products and deliverables in our Data Intelligence product family using systematic tests to ensure compliance with quality standards in an agile environment. Design, develop, and maintain comprehensive test plans and strategies based on functional and technical specifications. Use deep product knowledge and insights to design and execute effective test cases and perform exploratory testing to uncover edge cases and usability issues. Create, update, and execute test cases for new features and customer-reported issues; conduct test case reviews. Identify candidates for automation and design, develop, and maintain automated test suites to improve efficiency and coverage. Automate and optimize existing manual tests; continuously enhance automation frameworks and tools. Organize and maintain testing infrastructure aligned with supported environments for each software release. Collaborate closely with development teams to integrate quality into all aspects of software development and improve methodologies. Actively participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, and retrospectives to align testing activities with development goals. Observe, record, and track defects; provide clear documentation and communicate findings to engineering teams for resolution. Apply QA best practices and recommend process improvements to enhance quality and reduce defect recurrence. Monitor and report test results, coverage metrics, and quality KPIs to stakeholders. Mentor junior Software Engineers in Test, providing guidance on automation, test design, and quality practices. Drive continuous improvement initiatives in testing processes, tools, and methodologies. Minimum 8+ years of professional experience in software quality assurance, including test planning, execution, and defect management. Minimum 8+ years of hands-on experience in both manual and automated software testing, with a strong focus on Java-based applications (web, REST APIs, and desktop). Strong experience in software design using Object-Oriented programming principles and Design Patterns. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field (mandatory); advance degree preferred. Advanced understanding of QA methodologies, test strategies, and best practices for complex software systems. Proven competence in test automation using Java-based frameworks and scripting. Familiarity with problem tracking systems (Jira) and test case management tools (Zephyr). Ability to perform coverage analysis and proactively adjust testing to improve test coverage and efficiency. Practical experience in Agile development environments, including participation in ceremonies (sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives). Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for complex technical issues. Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams. Ability to mentor junior engineers and lead quality initiatives within the team. Proficiency in working across Windows and Linux environments (mandatory); familiarity with z/OS is a plus. .
