Job Description

  • We are seeking a Lead, Quality Engineer to join our team for the Aerojet Rocketdyne segment of L3Harris. This individual will drive key quality initiatives across multiple sites, collaborating with functional leadership and program management, and working closely with the Quality and Mission Assurance leadership team.  Additionally, the individual will maintain enterprise procedures, create training plans and documents, and coach others on enterprise processes. The ideal candidate will have a broad understanding of aerospace quality systems and processes.

Essential Functions

Independently manage quality projects, including coordination with cross functional team members, to ensure timely project completion Maintain, train and coach others on quality processes and procedures Champion, lead, and support the execution of strategic initiatives Collaborate with leadership from all AR sites and program management to drive quality initiatives across the segment Provide leadership and participate in quality improvement projects Help establish annual goals, monitor adherence to plans and schedules, mitigate risks, and achieve set milestones Report to senior leadership on business performance, including action plans to improve business execution and the status of strategic initiatives Present quality metrics to customers, providing assessments and actions to drive improvement Excellent leadership, communication, facilitation and interpersonal skills Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Ability to travel up to 30%

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills

Detailed understanding of Aerojet Rocketdyne quality processes including Nonconforming Material Control, Cause and Corrective Action, First Article Inspection, Drawing/Planning Review and Approval, Design Review and Approval, Classification of Hardware Characteristics, Purchase Order Quality flow downs, etc. Experience with US government agencies and aerospace prime customers Relevant experience supporting the production of high-complexity aerospace products Familiarity with AS9100, ISO9001, or other quality management systems Application of Lean, Six Sigma or other structured continuous improvement processes Knowledge and understanding of engineering drawings and specifications Experience in investigating technical issues and nonconformance’s to determine root causes and implement effective corrective actions Process & Design Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (PFMEA/DFMEA) experience Proficient in MS Office and business analytics software such as Qlik, Power BI, etc.

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California is $114,000 - $212,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
