Top 3 responsibilities

Inspect structural steel installation (bolting, welding, alignment, coatings) and reinforced concrete placement (concrete, curing, rebar, formwork).

Inspect post-tensioned/prestressed concrete operations (tendon installation, stressing, grouting, elongation).

Inspect foundations/deep foundations (drilled shafts, piles, anchors), coordinate and witness material testing, document deficiencies, and track corrective actions.

Must-have skills: 10+ years construction inspection experience (aviation/large projects preferred); strong knowledge of structural codes; ability to interpret drawings/specs/inspection reports; TSA background eligibility for airport credentials.

Nice-to-haves: CWI certification; experience with post-tensioned systems; nondestructive testing (UT/MT/PT) experience; familiarity with FAA/airport standards.

Summary
Geometrics Engineering is seeking experienced Structural QA Inspectors (CWI/Steel) to support terminal, airfield, and campus-wide construction projects at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS). This position will support the Austin Expansion and Development Program and is critical to ensuring construction activities comply with contract documents, approved plans, applicable codes, FAA and airport standards, and quality assurance requirements. QA Inspectors will provide on-site field verification, documentation, coordination with contractors, and support to Construction Managers and airport stakeholders throughout the construction lifecycle.
Structural Inspector (CWI / Steel)
The Structural QA Inspector will support the inspection of structural elements for airport terminal, airfield-adjacent, and campus-wide construction projects. This role emphasizes steel, concrete, foundations, and welding quality in compliance with contract documents and structural codes.
Focus Areas and Responsibilities
Inspect structural steel installation including bolting, welding, member alignment, and coatings. Observe reinforced concrete placement, consolidation, curing, rebar placement, formwork, and tolerances. Inspect post-tensioned and prestressed concrete operations including tendon installation, stressing, grouting, and elongation verification. Inspect foundations and deep foundations including drilled shafts, piles, anchors, and integrity testing. Coordinate and witness material testing such as concrete cylinders, weld testing, and nondestructive testing (UT, MT, PT). Document deficiencies, communicate findings, and track corrective actions to resolution.
Requirements and Experience
Minimum 10 years of construction inspection experience, preferably on aviation or large infrastructure projects. Demonstrated experience with structural steel and reinforced concrete construction. Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification preferred. Strong understanding of structural codes and standards (IBC, ACI, AISC, AWS). Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and third-party inspection reports. Ability to pass TSA background checks and obtain airport security credentials.
