Software Developer Engineer in Test (SDET) Location – Durham, NC Contract to hire Phone and face to face Interview

Needs to be hands on development and development background primarily – NOT someone who is primarily a QA with some development. Need automation and heavy scripting.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Software Developer Engineer in Test (SDET) – the role As an SDET you have the coding skills of a developer and the testing knowledge and experience of a quality software engineer. As member of the ACOE you will have the chance and support to develop truly innovative automation test solutions. You will have an opportunity to help shape the future of test automation by contributing to the creation of frameworks while working in a cutting-edge continuous integration and delivery model. Working closely with the software development and data scientists you will contribute to automated testing solutions by participating in many facets of automation including: integration testing, back-end testing, big data validations, API and microservices, and so much more.

Your typical activities might include

  • Collaborating with business owners, subject matter experts, and go to market teams to develop testing strategies and approaches to support multiple distributed agile teams

  • Participating in activities focused around the agile software development cycle

  • Designing, developing and supporting test automation

  • Contributing and collaborating on test frameworks, environments, tool selection and infrastructure

  • Identifying data requirements and generating and maintaining test data

  • Reporting testing progress and quality status to stakeholders, participating in test planning and bug triages

Qualification

Our ideal candidate will have

  • A Bachelors or Masters degree in STEM field such as Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics

  • 5-7+ years of relevant Quality Engineering automation experience (ie, UI, system, integration, API, performance/load, database, security, end to end)

  • 3+ years of writing test scripts from scratch with the ability to extend test frameworks, framework creation is a plus (ie, Selenium WebDriver, Postman, JMeter, Junit/NUnit, PyTest, Scala Test, Spark)

  • 3+ years of experience with Object Oriented Programming languages in Scala or Java and Python

  • Strong SQL skills and experience in a big data platform (Hadoop, Hive, Impala)

  • Experience working in a Linux/Unix environment

  • Continuous integration and delivery mindset, Jenkins or similar experience a plus, Git or similar a plus

  • Soft skills: self-motivated, flexible and adaptable, ability to multi-task, agile mindset
