Role & seniority: Development Test Engineer, Structures (Starship) — mid-level position on the Starship Structural Test team.
Stack/tools: mechanical/structural design; data acquisition and instrumentation (NI-based DAQ; strain gauges, pressure transducers, deflection gauges, load cells, RTDs, thermocouples); fluid/hydraulic design and operation; test stands; software/scripts for test procedures and configuration.
Design, modify, and execute static and dynamic system-level structural tests from concept to test article/test stand configuration.
Design, build, and troubleshoot mechanical, fluid, and hydraulic systems; develop instrumentation wiring and DAQ configurations; lead test execution with a small team.
Develop and maintain test procedures, sequences, scripts, configuration files, and data review (manual and automated).
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, aerospace, electrical, or related engineering field.
1+ years of experience in testing, mechanical/data acquisition, and control-system design.
Proficiency in mechanical/structural design, data acquisition/instrumentation, programming, or fluid/hydraulic design; ability to learn new skills.
Experience owning projects under technical/schedule pressure; working with hazardous systems (high pressure/energy, hazardous gases/fluids); integration of electrical, mechanical, and software systems.
