Role Descriptions: A SQL Test Lead is a quality assurance (QA) expert who manages the entire database testing process| from planning and strategy to execution and defect management. They ensure the accuracy| quality| reliability| and performance of data within an organizations systems| often in data warehousing or ETL environments. Key ResponsibilitiesTest Planning Strategy Develop comprehensive test plans and strategies| defining objectives| scope| testing techniques| and required resources for all phases of testing (unit| integration| functional| regression| UAT).Team Leadership Lead| mentor| and coordinate a team of testers (including offshore members)| assign tasks| monitor progress| provide guidance on best practices| and conduct performance reviews.Test Execution Analysis Oversee the creation and execution of detailed test cases and scripts| utilizing both manual and automated testing methods.SQL Querying Data Validation Write and execute complex SQL queries to perform backend data validation| ensuring data integrity| accuracy| and consistency between source and target systems.Defect Management Lead defect tracking and reporting activities| analyze bugs| communicate with development teams for resolution| and manage defects throughout their lifecycle from discovery to closure.Environment Management Design and maintain optimal test environments to simulate real-time scenarios and work with data migration teams to ensure quality test data is available for all testing phases.Stakeholder Collaboration Act as a key point of contact for all QA aspects of releases| collaborating with business analysts| developers| project managers| and clients to align on requirements and report on progress.Process Improvement Ensure adherence to formal QA processes| implement industry best practices| identify process issues| and drive automation strategies to enhance test efficiency and coverage. Required Skills and QualificationsEducation A Bachelors degree in Computer Science| Information Technology| or a related field is typically required.Experience Extensive experience (typically 5 years) in quality assurance| database testing| and data warehousingETL environments.Technical ProficiencyExpertise in writing complex SQL queries| stored procedures| and functions for data validation.Strong understanding of database management systems (e.g.| SQL Server| Oracle| DB2) and data warehousing concepts (e.g.| ETL| dimensions| facts).Experience with testing tools such as Client Quality CenterALM| JIRA| Selenium| and performance testing tools like JMeter or LoadRunner.Familiarity with AgileScrum and Waterfall development methodologies.Soft SkillsExcellent leadership| team management| and mentoring skills.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Outstanding written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration with diverse stakeholders.Strong organizational and decision-making skills.
