Role & seniority: Quality Engineer / Quality Specialist with 3–5 years in automotive quality, capable of leading quality processes and cross-functional problem solving.
Stack/tools: APQP family (Process Flow, PFMEA, Control Plan, PPAP, MSA, SPC), PFMEA/DFMEA support, CMM programming (PCDMIS), CMM layouts, Datapage/Dataview or Excel for reporting, Six Sigma/DOE concepts, ISO/IATF 16949 quality systems.
Update and maintain Control Plans; lead problem solving with cross-functional teams; respond to customer discrepancy notices.
Conduct/root-cause analysis of quality issues; support PFMEA, PPAP, SPC, and other APQP activities; participate in audits and report trends to management.
Develop/process controls; train on new/modified equipment and processes; maintain inspection/calibration records and support Gage/Dimensional control systems.
BS in Quality, Engineering, or Science; 3–5 years in quality/engineering within automotive; strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Proficiency in APQP tools (PFMEA, Control Plan, PPAP, MSA, SPC), familiarity with GD&T, metrology, DoE, 8D problem solving.
Software: MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with CMM programming (PCDMIS) and data/statistical reporting; knowledge of ISO/IATF 16949 quality systems.
Main Responsibilities Update/maintain the Control Plan for the assigned workflows. Primary contact source with customer/supplier representatives, maintain positive communication and relationship, support and attend meetings, reviews and audits. Ensures that the quality system is maintained in accordance with the YF iOS standards. Facilitate problem solving teams and respond to customer discrepancy notices. Verify corrective actions and prepare problem solving customer correspondence related to quality concerns or issues. Participate in internal and external quality audits, and report to management on quality issues, trends and losses. Establish process controls, assist in training of new projects and buy-off on new/modified equipment and processes. Participate in workgroups (e.g., FMEA, PSMC, etc.). Support the risk and failure analysis (PFMEA) reviews Performs root cause analysis of technical quality problems, with support of a cross functional team. Support quality/dimensional control systems (i.e., X&R charts, gage studies, Six Sigma, dimensional capability studies). Strong working knowledge of APQP tools (e.g., Process Flow, PFMEA, Control Plan, PPAP, MSA, SPC, etc.) Program CMM’s using PCDMIS CMM Software. Develop reports using Datapage / Dataview Statistical Software and or MS Excel. Perform CMM layouts / studies for pre and post launch activities. Perform Gage Layouts Maintain inspection and calibration records Common Requirements Bachelor's Level Degree in Quality, Industrial of Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience in Quality or Engineering related function. 3-5 Years of Experience working in the field of Quality, Engineering CI or similar (recent college graduate is considered acceptable). 3-5 Years of Experience within the automotive industry. Possesses strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work in a team environment, establishing partnerships both internally and externally. Demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Possess knowledge on the fundamentals of PPAP and APQP processes. Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required. Experience working directly with customers and suppliers, particularly automotive related is highly desirable. Understanding of the Quality function such as customer service, metrology, and quality analysis techniques (i.e., Design of experiments, Red X, PPAP, Control Plan, etc.). Specific Requirements
