The Financial Crime platform is responsible for maintaining and supporting systems that help prevent, detect, and manage financial crime. This includes ensuring systems meet regulatory and compliance requirements. The platform is also delivering changes to improve data sources and applications in line with longer-term strategic goals.
As a Software Specialist, you will focus on test engineering across data and application layers. You will use your experience in banking, data and ETL testing, and test automation to help the squad build, support, and maintain applications. You will also contribute to how testing is planned, executed, and improved within the team.
You will work in a cross-functional squad that owns how it delivers its work. The role involves hands-on testing of complex systems that integrate across the enterprise, while working closely with developers, analysts, and business stakeholders. The environment supports collaboration, shared decision-making, and continuous improvement, with a clear expectation that quality is built in from the start.
Key Responsibilities

You are a test engineer who takes ownership of quality within a squad. You care about how systems behave in real conditions and are comfortable examining details across data, applications, and integrations. You are willing to ask questions when things are unclear and raise risks early.
You work well with others and are comfortable representing test engineering perspectives with developers, product owners, and stakeholders. You can explain testing outcomes clearly and base your decisions on evidence from testing and analysis. You are also prepared to guide others on testing approaches and standards where needed.
This role suits someone with deep hands-on experience who is practical in their approach. You are comfortable working in an agile environment and can balance planning, execution, and improvement without losing focus on delivery.
We’re Looking For Someone Who Brings
10 or more years of experience in test engineering At least 3 years of experience testing ETL processes, databases, and data warehouses Proven experience across data layer testing, functional testing, system integration testing, API testing, end-to-end testing, and performance testing Working knowledge of Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and Microsoft SQL Server Practical experience working in agile delivery teams Experience designing, developing, maintaining, and executing test automation Experience mentoring or guiding others on testing standards and good practice Experience defining test strategies, test plans, and exit reports Experience estimating, prioritising, and negotiating testing work Strong problem-solving skills, initiative, and technical leadership
