About the Company We are seeking a Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) who thrives in a quality-driven, field-based environment. This role is critical to ensuring that all welding work on assigned projects meets applicable codes, standards, and client expectations. The ideal candidate will bring a deep understanding of welding processes, QA/QC documentation, and a commitment to excellence in workmanship. This person will serve as the quality assurance lead on assigned construction projects, supporting the integrity of welds through inspections, recordkeeping, and compliance oversight, while also mentoring field teams and coordinating with project stakeholders.
About the Role We are seeking a Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) who thrives in a quality-driven, field-based environment.
Responsibilities Perform certified weld inspections, including review of weld maps, welder qualifications, weld logs, and continuity logs. Conduct onsite visual inspections of welds as needed. Monitor welder performance and ensure adherence to approved Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS). Supervise and coordinate QA/QC Validators assigned to the project, including manpower planning. Assist in developing or maintaining site-specific QA/QC manuals. Generate and maintain project-specific weld logs and standardized naming conventions. Collaborate with project teams on drawing/iso and weld map coordination. Maintain certification, calibration, and continuity logs in coordination with project administration. Participate in site and project meetings as required. Ensure all work complies with project specifications and is completed in a professional and workmanlike manner. Identify, create, and track Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs); ensure closure only after corrective action is completed and verified. Investigate QC issues involving piping, ductwork, HVAC, and plumbing for code and specification compliance. Utilize multiple software platforms for quality tracking and documentation. Communicate effectively with internal teams and external project stakeholders. Perform additional duties as needed to support project success.
Qualifications Current Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) certification (Required). 5+ years of QA/QC inspection experience in construction or industrial settings. In-depth knowledge of ASME Codes and relevant local/state/national regulations. Proven experience with weld log, weld map, continuity log, and WPS requirements. Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel to various job sites across the state. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across diverse teams. Strong documentation and organizational skills; familiarity with Good Documentation Practices (GDP). Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts. Experience writing professional reports and correspondence. High level of ownership, attention to detail, and a strong quality-first mindset. Willingness to mentor and coach others in QA/QC processes. Flexibility to adapt to changing project demands and site conditions. 70% Travel Required to commercial client sites.
