Role & seniority: Experienced Protection and Testing Technician (field service) with focus on advanced learning and skills development.
Stack/tools: High voltage testing and protection systems; primary/secondary test equipment; relays testing (Omicron, Doble or equivalents); IEC61850 automation protocol; schematics/ Wiring diagrams; reporting/documentation tools.
Work autonomously on protection systems in safe, timely manner; follow instructions from senior technicians.
Perform maintenance, commissioning, fault finding and upgrades on HV equipment (CTs/VTs, circuit breakers, switchboards, protection systems; generator/motor/transformer protection).
Complete test certificates and job reports; ensure safety, quality, cost and time standards; liaise with project stakeholders and support teams.
Knowledge of high-voltage/protection systems; ability to test relays; strong computer literacy.
Experience with primary/secondary test equipment and related software; reading/ interpreting schematics.
Effective communication, customer liaison, and self-management; proven team/onsite collaboration; problem-solving abilities.

Role The role is for an experienced Protection and Testing Technician with a keen interest for advanced learning and skills development. You will be working within our field service teams, under instructions from senior technicians, on a range interesting high voltage projects locally and throughout Australia. Power Generation, Transmission and Distribution, Industrial, Utilities, Renewable Energy, Energy Storage, Commercial and Mining sectorsCombination of maintenance, commissioning, fault finding and upgrade activitiesPrimary testing of instrument transformers (CT’s and VT’s), circuit breakers, switchboards and other complex high voltage systemsPrimary injection differential balancing transformers, feeders, generators, motorsSecondary injection testing of all protection system types including generator protection, motor protection, transformer and cable differential, current and voltage protection, line impedance protectionTraining and exposure to IEC61850 advanced automation protocolIdeally based out of Newcastle NSW, however flexible options for base location may be offered to skilled candidatesWillingness to occasionally step up for the team and work in other disciplines such as general HV maintenance, high voltage testing (transformers, motors, generators) and electrical construction if required during periods of heavy workload for the extended team
