Role & seniority: Electronics Test Automation Engineer (automation-led, mid-level to senior within Electronics Verification)

Design, develop, and maintain automated test solutions to replace manual electronics tests; end-to-end ownership

Collaborate with electronics, RF, and baseband teams to support development, characterization, and verification across multiple radio technologies; analyze results and assist root-cause debugging
Strong Python programming and software-engineering practices (modular code, logging, debugging)
Proven experience in hardware/system/test automation; ability to control test equipment via software
Experience in a lab environment with physical hardware; familiarity with test procedures and instrumentation
Git/version control proficiency; ability to read and improve manual test procedures
Sepura is seeking Electronics Test Automation Engineers to strengthen our electronics verification capability by automating manual hardware tests and improving test efficiency, repeatability, and coverage.
This role is automation-led. While exposure to RF, baseband, or radio technologies is beneficial, deep RF expertise is not required and will be developed on the job. The successful candidates will focus on converting existing manual electronics tests into robust, maintainable automated solutions and supporting manual execution where automation is not yet available.
You will work closely with electronics, RF, and baseband engineers to support development, characterisation, and verification of new hardware platforms across multiple radio technologies.

Role
Execute manual electronics tests on development and prototype hardware. Design, develop, and maintain test automation to replace manual procedures. Translate manual test cases into repeatable, automated workflows.
Day-to-Day Activities
Running manual electronics tests on early hardware revisions. Automating existing manual test campaigns. Developing and maintaining Python test libraries and utilities. Interfacing with lab instruments (via SCPI, VISA, serial, USB, Ethernet, etc.). Analysing test results and identifying anomalies. Supporting characterisation and verification activities across Components Subsystems Integrated systems Collaborating with RF, baseband, conformance, and production test teams to ensure alignment of test methods. Gradually building domain knowledge in RF and radio technologies (training provided)
Experience And Skills (Essential)
Strong Python programming skills. Proven experience in test automation (hardware, system, or integration level). Experience controlling test equipment or external devices via software.
Exposure to electronics, embedded systems, or hardware testing.
HNC/HND in an appropriate subject
