The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies. Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning's businesses through IT enabled processes. IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide.

Role Purpose

The Information Security Automation Engineer will initially report to Corning’s Chief Information Security Officer, but it is expected to change as we mature in the data and AI space. This position will support and advance our security posture across data- and AI-driven initiatives. This role is ideal for a professional who is eager to work at the intersection of information security, data governance, and artificial intelligence. In this role, you will help secure data pipelines, AI models, and platforms while also contributing to the development and deployment of AI-powered security solutions, including AI agents that automate or enhance security processes.

Key Responsibilities

Support the design and creation of AI agents that enhance information security capabilities.

Create and maintain automated agents to handle mundane and repeatable security requests, such as

  • Access and entitlement reviews
  • Evidence collection for audits and compliance
  • Policy guidance and security FAQs
  • Intake and triage of security questionnaires and risk assessments
  • Security documentation and reporting

Define and implement guardrails for AI agents, such as

  • Role-based access controls and least-privilege permissions
  • Human-in-the-loop approvals for sensitive or high-risk actions

Experiences/Education - Required

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Engineering, or a related field, OR equivalent practical experience through relevant work, internships, bootcamps, or self-directed learning.

Min. of 2 yrs of hands-on experience in the following areas

  • AI programming, machine learning, or building automation solutions using AI/ML frameworks and tools.
  • Tangible implementation of AI/ML solutions in real-world environments, demonstrating practical application of models, workflows, or automations.
  • Coding and software development (Python preferred, but other languages acceptable).
  • Cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
  • Supporting or automating tasks for data platforms, cloud infrastructure, APIs, or applications.
  • Translating technical AI/ML solutions into practical workflows for teammates or broader organizational use.
  • Strong understanding of automating workflows and processes using AI/ML tools or frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, OpenAI, or similar platforms.
  • Experiences/Education - Desired

Experience with DevOps practices and Agile methodologies. Exposure to or familiarity with network security concepts. Experience designing and deploying AI-powered solutions for security or operational workflows. Hands-on experience with AI agents, particularly in automating repetitive processes or enhancing decision-making. Background in integrating AI/ML tools into existing systems or workflows. Familiarity with data governance or security principles. Demonstrated ability to mentor teammates in AI/ML tools and processes.

The range for this position is $126,013.00 - $173,268.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
