The role is based at DroneShield’s central Sydney headquarters. Overseas on-the-ground presence includes Virginia (USA), Netherlands, Denmark, Mexico and Dubai, as well as distributors in over 70 countries worldwide.

About The Role

DroneShield is seeking a hands-on Senior QA Engineer with deep experience in software system validation, AI/ML system validation, and sensor-integrated platforms. You’ll lead test strategy, automation, and quality governance across Linux-based platforms integrating firmware, intelligent models, and sensors. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can plan, execute, and deliver end-to-end QA activities independently, while collaborating across multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities, Duties And Expectations

Lead QA strategy, automation, and test framework development within CI/CD. Independently plan, design, and execute test cycles across software, firmware, hardware, and sensor integrations. Hands-on experience in Field Testing of Embedded products Collaborate with developers, data scientists, and DevOps to improve test coverage and release quality. Mentor QA engineers and drive continuous improvement in test processes and standards.

Qualifications, Experience And Skills

6–10 years of QA experience across software, embedded systems, and hardware–software integrations. Strong in Linux, automation frameworks (Selenium, Pytest, Playwright, K6), and Python/Golang/JavaScript. Hands on experience in Test Management tools such as Xray, Zephyr, Qmetry Skilled in planning and executing test strategies independently with minimal supervision. Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, Docker, snaps and Drive Continuous Improvements and QA governance practices to help better the health of the team Excellent analytical, debugging, and communication skills.

Desirable

Exposure to HIL, Embedded and/or IoT testing. Experience with Non-functional, performance testing, or edge device validation. Proven experience testing AI/ML models, non-deterministic systems, sensor integrated products, and sensor fusion systems
