Role & seniority: Investigative/compliance professional (mid-level) reporting to Corporate Compliance Officer; expected to conduct, document, summarize, and present audits and investigations.

Top 3 responsibilities

  • Conduct investigations, document findings, complete required incident reports, and present investigatory findings to leadership and committees.

  • Perform systematic reviews of incidents (root causes, antecedents, trend analysis) under direction of the Compliance Officer.

  • Complete and present quality assurance audits and compliance audits; maintain adherence to agency, OPWDD, and Justice Center policies.

Must-have skills

  • BA/BS preferred; at least 3 years working with people with ID/DD.

  • Knowledge of NY State/OPWDD regulations (e.g., NYCRR 14 Part 624, 625, 633) and quality assurance/compliance practices.

  • Strong written/verbal communication, leadership, organization, and time management.

  • Ability to handle sensitive issues, maintain confidentiality, and make reliable decisions.

  • Valid NYS Driver’s License (or acceptable alternative) and ability to operate within insured vehicle if used.

Nice-to-haves

  • OPWDD trained investigator (minimum 1 year in OPWDD setting).

Description

Purpose: To conduct, document, summarize and present audits and investigations, while adhering to the mission of the agency. To work towards the common goal of improving services for all people served by AIM. To ensure a person-centered approach as applied to all facets of quality and compliance.

Qualifications

  • BA/BS preferred.
  • (3) years of experience working with people with ID/DD.
  • OPWDD Trained Investigator with a minimum of one year conducting investigations in an OPWDD setting preferred.
  • Experience in Self-direction, as an MSC, or as a Residential Manager preferred.
  • Knowledge of New York State and OPWDD regulations including NYCRR 14 Part 624, 625, & 633 The Justice Center, and quality assurance and compliance practices.
  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate both critical thinking skills and reliability in decision making.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Well-developed team skills, unquestioned integrity, and the experience, confidence and presence to effectively handle sensitive issues.
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License acceptable to Agency Insurance standards. Maintain valid insurance and provide insurance card if you use your own vehicle.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, IRMA, Therap, and web-based platforms.

Physical/Cognitive

  • Sitting and/or computer use for an extended period of time

Investigatory Essential Functions

  • Conduct investigations, complete all appropriate documentation, including the use of OPWDD and Justice Center online incident applications.
  • Assure all “Incidents” are appropriately reported in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Complete a systematic review of all incident reports identifying and analyzing root causes, antecedents and trend analysis under the direction of the Compliance Officer.
  • Prepare and present investigatory reports, with recommendations and pertinent collateral information to the Director of Administration and the Incident Review Committee as appropriate.
  • Ensure all investigations are properly documented and filed in accordance with AIM, OPWDD, and Justice Center investigatory policies and procedures.

Quality Assurance Essential Functions

  • Complete and present quality assurance audits.
  • Complete and present compliance audits.
  • Maintain knowledge of regulations and assist with ensuring agency compliance, while adhering to the mission of the agency.
  • Accurately interpret policies, procedures and regulations as applicable and apply them in accordance with person-centered philosophies.
