Google's custom-designed machines make up one of the largest and most powerful computing infrastructures in the world. The Hardware Testing Engineering team ensures that this cutting-edge equipment is reliable. In the R&D lab, you design test equipment for prototypes of our machinery and develop the protocols used to scale these tests for the entire global team. Working closely with design engineers, you give input on designs to improve our hardware until you're sure it meets Google's standards of quality and reliability.
Google's custom-designed equipment makes up one of the largest and most computing infrastructures in the world. The Google Hardware Quality and Reliability team is responsible for delivering this physical infrastructure.
As a Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE), you will assess supplier designs, manufacturing, quality and reliability powering Google’s technical infrastructure technology. When suppliers build parts for our infrastructure, you are right there alongside assuring manufacturing processes are repeatable and controlled and there is alignment on the appropriate requirements. You will collaborate with others to determine Google’s infrastructure needs and product specifications and to make sure maximize multi-sourcing for each component. Your work ensures Google infrastructure fits perfectly and keeps our systems humming along for a seamless user experience. You will work directly with supplier partners managing all aspects of power supplier quality. You will collaborate with hardware designers, commodity managers, manufacturing engineers and drive supplier failure analysis. You will establish true root causes, and drive systemic corrective actions with demonstrated preventative solutions. You will extract and analyze data from supplier facilities, Google production lines, and our data centers to measure product performance and drive improvements.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $115,000-$166,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
Apply Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) fundamentals and collaborate with teams to help them understand and apply RCCA tools and principles and analyze/understand failure to resolve issues. Interface with supplier engineering and agreement manufacturers to monitor quality and reliability, drive continuous improvements, investigate and coordinate failure analysis, isolate true root causes, categorize failures, and drive corrective/preventative actions in collaboration with the design and commodity teams. Complete quality improvement initiatives with suppliers and Google engineering. Manage quality section of supplier scorecards during business reviews and drive systemic quality/reliability improvements. Conduct and manage supplier quality audits, driving high standards in manufacturing and quality.
