Role & seniority: Senior/lead consultant focused on expanding new business in industrial automation within mining and related sectors; full-time hybrid role based in Canada.
Stack/tools: Industrial automation lifecycle (concept through commissioning); front-end engineering, control system philosophy, systems architecture, SIL studies, P&ID; field instrumentation procurement; BPCS/SIS systems; vendor ecosystems (Honeywell, Emerson, Triconex, Foxboro, Siemens, Rockwell); PLC/DCS/SIS networking; FAT/SAT, commissioning, handover; visualization/configuration and access control capabilities are a plus.
Drive growth and expansion of automation opportunities; identify trends, form strategic partnerships, and deliver innovative solutions.
Lead/assist in proposal development, execution plans, budgets, and oversee delivery across the project lifecycle from concept to handover.
Coordinate multi-discipline interfaces (engineering partners, contractors, suppliers) and ensure on-time, on-budget, quality outcomes and customer satisfaction.
Significant experience leading control systems projects; FEED/front-end engineering, scoping and cost estimates.
Deep experience in instrumentation, BPCS/SIS selection and procurement; P&ID development; safety studies (SIL); IT/OT integration.
Experience with major vendors; field support for construction, FAT/SAT, commissioning; strong written/verbal communication; eligible for P.

Purpose
The primary purpose of this role is to drive the growth and expansion of new business opportunities within the industrial automation sector by leveraging cutting-edge digital, technology, and autonomous solutions. The consultant will play a pivotal role in identifying and capitalizing on emerging trends, fostering strategic partnerships, and delivering innovative solutions that enhance operational efficiency, safety, and sustainability in mining operations.
This is a full-time hybrid position based at a Worley office location in Canada: Alberta, Ontario, or British Columbia.
Overall Responsibilities And Key Accountabilities
Strong self-starter, entrepreneurial mindset and motivated. Practical consulting experience - including scoping, selling, and delivery. Work with Worley offices to share work and integrate staff on projects for a blended execution team. Project experience including coordinating interfaces with engineering partners, construction contractors, equipment manufacturers, system integrators and project management as well as technical disciplines including process, civil, structural, piping, mechanical, and electrical. Desire to expand role and be adaptable to client's needs. Assists, and later, leads the preparation of proposals, execution plans and budgets. Project experience working on all engineering phases within a project from concept through design and engineering, construction support, and commissioning/validation and handover. Project experience in the development and commissioning of complex automation projects. Excellent communication skills including ability to communicate complex ideas effectively, produce concise reports and presentations appropriate for all levels.
Takes ownership for project success: delivery of target quality, cost management and customer satisfaction. Proactively builds a knowledge base of tools and methodologies to drive productivity and growth. Lead role in work process improvement. Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment. Travel as required for various field programs.
What You Will Bring
Significant experience with expertise in leading control systems projects in the industry.
Experience in the following sectors a plus: Mining, LNG, petrochemical, oil and gas, and nuclear industries. Specific front end engineering experience developing project scope, control system philosophy, systems architecture, process safety studies, SIL determination, P&ID development and building TIC estimates a must.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering discipline (Electrical, Instrumentation Computer Systems). Must be eligible to obtain a P.Eng. license where the role is based.
P. Eng. license preferred.
Additional Information
For applicants based in the province of British Columbia, the salary range is CAD $159,360 to $234,353.
