Top 3 responsibilities

Deliver controls and automation solutions for major water & wastewater treatment projects
Execute full lifecycle engineering: specifications, design, programming, FAT/SAT, site commissioning, and handover
Lead or contribute to PLC/SCADA development and commissioning, including on-site activities as required

Must-have skills

Proven PLC/SCADA development and commissioning experience
Background in a process-related industry (water sector preference)
Ability to work independently and hit the ground running
Willingness to attend site commissioning when required
UK Right to Work; availability for immediate or near-immediate start

Nice-to-haves

Experience with water sector systems integration or water treatment control upgrades
Knowledge of ICA/MEICA engineering services
Multi-vendor PLC/SCADA project experience across utilities/framework projects

Location & work type

UK-based contract role, outside IR35
6–12 months with potential extensions
Flexible hybrid working; on-site commissioning as required by project stage

Full Description

We're supporting a major engineering organisation delivering large‑scale automation and control upgrades across the UK water sector. Due to increased project workload, they're looking to bring in an experienced Contract Automation Engineer with strong multi‑vendor PLC/SCADA experience and full‑lifecycle project capability. The Role You'll be delivering controls and automation solutions across major water & wastewater treatment projects. This contract involves full lifecycle engineering-from specifications and design through to programming, FAT/SAT, site commissioning, and handover. Technical Requirements
