We are looking for a graduate-level student for an Enterprise Quality Engineering Intern to join our Automation Center of Excellence team, with a focus on AI-driven automation framework and automation enablement. This role provides hands-on experience building and enhancing the automation framework that enables the Staples enterprise teams to develop and execute automated tests for APIs/Services, web experience, and mobile apps. You will work alongside QE Architect and senior engineers on real automation capabilities used extensively by engineering teams across the enterprise.

What you’ll be doing

  • Assist in designing, developing, and maintaining test automation framework and scripts using Java, TestNG, Maven, Selenium, Appium, and RestAssured libraries.

  • Learn how different technologies within the automation framework integrate with tools like Jira, Selenium Grid, and cloud platforms such as LambdaTest.

  • Learn and apply object-oriented programming principles and assist in implementing the Page Object Model to help maintain scalable automation code.

  • Support the automation teams in testing Staples' eCommerce platforms, including UI, responsive web, native mobile apps, and microservices-based systems.

  • Use and learn AI-powered development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, intelligent IDEs) to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort while writing automation tests.

  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand testing needs and support sprint goals.

  • Assist with documentation, knowledge sharing, and team discussions to help resolve automation challenges.

  • Contribute to small proof-of-concept tasks and learn how new automation tools and technologies are evaluated for enterprise use.

  • Stay curious about industry trends and emerging technologies, and share ideas that may help improve automation speed, accuracy, or user experience.

What’s needed – Basic Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

  • Strong foundation in software engineering concepts, SDLC, and OOP.

  • Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Java, or similar.

  • Experience working in cloud environments and using Git for version control.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior QA experience on a large-scale Enterprise application or preferably an e-commerce application.

  • Experience with API services, Web or Mobile automation development using open-source technologies.

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms, cloud testing, and Selenium Grid.

  • Interest or coursework in AI/ML, applied analytics, or large language models.

  • Understanding of concepts of software quality assurance testing, Integration testin,g and automation engineering concepts.
