The Quality Engineer will act as a liaison between the customer and the organization in all matters related to quality with respective customers. This position will ensure that processes and systems are in place that meets the needs of the customer and the business.
Determine quality improvement parameters by identifying statistical methods relevant to manufacturing processes. Act as liaison to the customer in all matters related to quality assurance. Act as the voice of the customer in the process. Develop SOPs and related documentation contributing to the overall Quality Management System. Submit projects on a regular basis as part of the continuous improvement program initiative. Perform root cause analysis and follow through with permanent corrective actions. Participate in customer visits as the quality liaison. Develop and documents testing methods for the verification of products as needed. Establish statistical confidence by identifying sample size and acceptable error, determining levels of confidence. Develop experiments by applying full and fractional factorial techniques. Develop sampling plans by applying attribute, variable and sequential sampling methods to create control plans that mitigate risks. Analyze data by completing ANOVA, regression, hypothesis, normal distribution, and process capability analysis tests and statistical process control charting. Perform Gage R&R to evaluate instrument and process variation. Identify and implement necessary methods to minimize variation where deemed necessary. Define, prepare, and maintain physical and electronic quality standards by defect type and product. Develop and perform training with the quality lab associates related to product testing and quality defect standards. Support the training for Quality Techs by explaining the proper procedures to be conducted on the floor and in the lab. Support the projects undertaken by the organization, where he/she can add value. Keep updated the reports, SPC, and documents under his/her responsibility. Perform other related duties that contribute to the success of the operation as assigned by supervisor. 5. Actively participate in the department meetings. 6. Assist in training coordinated by HR where participation is needed. 7. Report any work-related incidents. Maintain relevant data related to the quality performance of their areas of responsibilities. Prepare reports by collecting analyzing and summarizing data; make recommendations. Maintain all related information related to the products of their responsibilities in the Infinity SPC software. Perform data reviews of the information in the Infinity SPC program related to their areas of responsibilities on a weekly basis including all related CCP’s of the areas. Prepare and develop training for quality and floor technicians as needed. Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, benchmarking practices, participating in professional societies and maintaining American Society of Quality certified quality engineer certification. Perform other related duties that contribute to the success of the operation as assigned by supervisor/manager.
Education
Associate’s Degree in Quality, Engineering or related field. Preferred - Bachelor’s Degree Quality, Engineering or related field
Experience Required
Two to four years of previous quality assurance experience in a manufacturing environment desired, preferably in the paper or plastics industry. Previous experience with plastics and/or thermoforming strongly desired. Proficiency in quality system management and process improvement. Good written and oral communication skills. Ability to promote team dynamics with the department. Ability to deal with complex situations. Attention to detail thoroughness and follow through abilities. Demonstrated knowledge of statistical analysis. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
