Northrop Grumman’s Business Unit, Armament Systems, is seeking a Environmental test Engineer (Level 2) or principal (level 3) environmental test engineer to provide test engineering technical expertise for our guided projectile production programs in our Plymouth, MN offices.

Position Summary
This individual would be responsible for ensuring climatic, vibration and shock tests are conducted and documented properly and to assist and guide a team of technicians in such work. This role is to support product development, formal qualification and failure investigations, while also being involved in the development of new techniques to improve device and testing effectiveness and reliability.
Responsibilities
Ensure climatic/vibration tests are executed to customer specifications. Maintain test data integrity, evaluate results and prepare and review test reports to meet customer requirements, providing interim data and completed reports in a timely manner. Define, lead and run tests using vibration, shock and climatic test facilities. Provide technical guidance to technicians as needed. Develop lab capabilities to support new technologies and methods. Support the development of local work instructions. Provide scheduling assistance for equipment and personnel. Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions. Lead / Contribute towards continuous improvement activities.
Basic Qualifications
For a level 2- Bachelors degree in a STEM field & 2 years of related test experience, OR a masters degree in a STEM field For a level 3 (principal) - Bachelors degree in a STEM field & 5 years of related test experience, OR a masters degree in a STEM field & 3 years of related test experience Mechanical and Thermal Engineering experience Demonstrated understanding for the safe and correct way to stimulate test assets with vibration, shock, climatic and temperature profiles. Experience with mechanical (vibration and shock) and climatic testing, including derivation of control strategies, function of climatic chambers and equipment, vibration test controllers and data acquisition systems. Effective at working in teams with strong interpersonal skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain & maintain a DoD security clearance.

Primary Level Salary Range: $79,600.00 - $119,400.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $98,900.00 - $148,300.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
