As part of continued growth, our client is looking to hire an RF Test Engineer to join their development team in Cambridge. This RF Test Engineer position plays a key role in bridging RF design and measured hardware performance, ensuring strong correlation between simulation and real-world results. The successful RF Test Engineer will work closely with design and systems teams, contributing directly to the delivery of high-performance RF products.
Role Overview
The RF Test Engineer will be responsible for performing detailed RF measurements, developing robust test methodologies, and providing critical feedback to engineering teams. This role requires strong attention to detail, solid RF measurement fundamentals, and the ability to build reliable and repeatable test environments.
Key Responsibilities
Perform RF measurements and evaluate device and system performance Execute 3GPP-aligned RF measurements (LTE and/or NR), assessing transmitter and receiver characteristics Develop and maintain robust, repeatable RF test setups for product characterisation Provide measurement-driven feedback to RF design and systems teams to support optimisation and integration Maintain clear, accurate, and structured documentation of measurement results and procedures Collaborate cross-functionally to define RF measurement strategies and requirements Develop scripts and automation for RF test systems to improve repeatability and efficiency Ensure testing follows RF best practices, standards, and calibrated measurement processes Participate in design reviews and provide insights based on measured data Troubleshoot and resolve RF measurement and test setup issues
Requirements
Education & Experience
Degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related discipline Strong understanding of RF fundamentals including S-parameters, impedance matching, gain, noise figure, and linearity Experience using RF test equipment such as VNAs, spectrum analysers, and signal generators Practical experience with 3GPP RF measurements (LTE and/or NR) Experience building repeatable RF measurement setups and test automation Ability to interpret RF schematics and system-level diagrams Understanding of RF system behaviour including gain, noise, linearity, matching, and modulation effects Scripting/programming experience for automation (Python, MATLAB, or similar) Hands-on lab experience including PCB soldering and hardware debugging
