What To Expect The Quality Engineering Technician will ensure that all material both in-process and incoming, meets Tesla’s quality requirements and specifications. This person will be responsible to identifying quality issues within the manufacturing environment, leading investigations, and root cause analysis, collecting relevant process and product data, and managing non-conforming material. This person will work closely with production and engineering teams to maintain rapid response and to drive continuous improvements to the production process. They will conduct product tear downs for root cause analysis, drive the creation and maintenance of Quality Instruction documents and support Quality Engineers in root cause analysis of materialized quality issues, working closely with manufacturing, process, and suppliers to establish processes and procedures that will ensure consistently high quality. This person will lead the organization and completion of Quality trials working with Quality Engineers and Quality Technicians and support new line validations with Quality Engineers.
What You'll Do
Assist Quality Engineers during fault injection exercises process refinement through Gage R&R and management of Issue Tracker actions to resolution and assist in the identification and resolution of manufacturing quality issues, contain parts or products as needed, sort parts for quality requirements Serve as the on-shift subject matter expert (SME) for process and product specifications that define quality in assigned areas Maintain, update, and validate product and quality plans and control plans, leads line to line root cause issues/solutions to increase and maintain quality metrics and performance Develop and implement daily process/line specific audit plans for Quality Technicians. Compile and review results with cross-functional teams Support training the training and coaching of quality technicians on root cause issues/problems and best practices for corrective action implementation and countermeasures Lead/Participate in continuous improvement activities with Process Technicians/Engineers Manufacturing Engineers and external suppliers and take part in ongoing optimization of manufactured products with respect to both cost and production technology Analyze and interpret high failure product data independently, effectively escalating/root causing fall-out alongside line Quality Technician and direct potential problem preventative action on quality defects based on increased data metric fall-out rates and failed lineside products
What You'll Bring
Level 2 Quality Technician or higher and experience on Model 3 Drive Unit, Battery Module, and/or Pack lines and experience with quality systems in a high-volume manufacturing environment Experienced in QS-9000, ISO/TS 16949, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, DFMEA, PFMEA preferred Knowledge of LEAN Manufacturing practices, 5S, TPS, TQM, etc. highly desired and strong aptitude with electronic test and measurement systems Proficiency at reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and wiring diagrams and knowledge of GD&T engineering drawings and must have command of the English language, both written and verbal Ability to lift and sort parts. Ability to effectively communicate common issues and defects to leadership and management assisting with solutions Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment providing line leadership and guidance and detail oriented with strong record-keeping and organizational skills Ability to pull and manipulate data in SQL, basic statistical knowledge (capability, t-tests, etc.).
