Job Description
The Advanced Quality Engineer is responsible for overseeing the launch of new programs, which involves creating documentation for PPAPs using tools such as PFMEA and process flow. The role also includes developing quality systems for upcoming production programs.
Responsibilities
Participate as a key member of the core launch team from product kickoff through the entire lifecycle of parts, handling all advance quality elements as defined in RASIC and CLC procedures. Assist in developing and training operational groups on processes and requirements related to new program launches. Understand, communicate, and train all operational personnel on customer-specific requirements. Lead or participate in corrective action audits and problem-solving teams to support continuous improvement, ensuring performance criteria are met once a new program is launched. Perform process capabilities and measurement studies using statistical techniques to support new program launches and GD&T requirements. Develop and document manufacturing processes for continuous improvement to meet quality, cost, and customer expectations. Act as a liaison with external parties, including customers and suppliers, regarding new program requirements. Develop gauges and gauge instructions with customer input, and train quality team members on correct gauge usage. Coordinate data collection for customer PPAP approval in a timely manner and prepare paperwork for PPAP packages for assigned programs. Obtain required customer signoffs for boundary samples, appearance approvals, and fit/function approvals. Ensure suppliers understand quality requirements through the Purchasing department, designating quality characteristics and evaluation methods, including PPAP submissions. Read and interpret GD&T, and direct dimensional layout and test timing to meet PPAP submission deadlines. Participate in warranty analysis and investigations.
Essential Skills
Proficiency in PPAP, PFMEA, Quality Engineering, Root Cause Analysis, and Quality Auditing Experience with Quality Management, Quality Management Systems, and APQP 1+ years of experience in manufacturing quality engineering
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Associate's or Bachelor's degree Preferred experience in automotive manufacturing Experience with injection molding, plating, and assembly
Work Environment
The work environment includes injection molding and plating lines, which can be hot and dirty in some areas. The KY site has limited on-site technical support, requiring a self-starter with high initiative. The company offers 6 paid holidays and 1 week of PTO.
