Salary: $95,000 - $115,000 / year
Role & seniority: Senior/Experienced Quality Assurance Engineer (4+ years in software QA)
Stack/tools: HyperSpace web app; REST APIs, microservices, SPAs; Playwright-based automation; automated testing frameworks; Docker, Kubernetes; CI/CD; scripting (preferred)
Own end-to-end QA strategy, test planning, execution tracking, and release validation
Define feature testing scope, integrate tasks into sprint backlogs, expand/maintain automation, and enhance CI/CD processes
Lead root-cause analysis for production issues and serve as deployment owner to ensure quality releases
4+ years QA experience; strong web app architecture understanding (REST, microservices, SPAs)
Proficiency with automated testing frameworks/tools and maintaining testing pipelines
Solid DevOps knowledge (Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD); strong analytical/problem-solving; ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Scripting languages and test automation tooling experience
Security testing background ( OWASP Top 10)
Experience with blue/green deployments; ability to translate technical processes for non-technical stakeholders

As a key partner to Product Management and Engineering, this position helps prevent defects early, strengthens automation and CI/CD processes, and acts as a gatekeeper for production deployments.
Core Responsibilities Own end-to-end quality assurance strategy for HyperSpace, including test planning, execution tracking, and release validation. Define testing scope for new features and integrate tasks into sprint backlogs to ensure on-time delivery. Expand and maintain automated testing frameworks, including Playwright-based automation. Own and enhance CI/CD automation processes to enable rapid feedback and continuous quality validation. Partner with Product Management and Software Engineering to clarify requirements and acceptance criteria during the design phase to prevent defects before development begins. Lead root-cause analysis for production issues and implement preventive measures to reduce recurrence. Serve as the primary deployment owner, ensuring releases meet quality standards before production deployment. Continuously evaluate and improve QA processes, automation coverage, and deployment workflows. Additional Responsibilities Contribute to documentation of quality standards, test cases, and deployment procedures. Support scaling efforts as HyperSpace evolves in complexity and user adoption. Advocate for quality-driven engineering practices across the software development team.
Location Onsite in Richmond, VA preferred, or remote, depending on candidate location and business needs.
Compensation The anticipated minimum starting salary for this position is $95,000 - $115,000 per year. Actual salary varies due to factors that may include but not limited to relevant experience, skills, certifications, and location. This hire will be eligible for discretionary bonus or incentive compensation. Variable compensation may depend on various factors, such as individual and organizational performance.
