Providence Health is looking for a detail-oriented, customer-focused Insurance Verification Specialist to join our Patient Access team. In this role, you’ll help ensure our patients receive seamless, efficient care by verifying insurance coverage, coordinating authorizations, and supporting smooth admissions processes across multiple departments.
What You’ll Do
Patient Intake & Insurance Verification
Verify patient insurance coverage (HMO, PPO, Medicare, Medicaid) and identify authorization requirements. Complete pre-registration and ensure demographics and medical information are accurate in EPIC. Discuss co-pays, shared costs, and patient financial responsibility in a clear and compassionate manner.
Authorization & Claims Support
Request and secure authorizations for treatment and bed placement. Handle referrals and associate them accurately with patient records. Identify services requiring authorization and confirm referral details.
Communication & Customer Service
Collaborate closely with physician offices, case managers, and other Providence ministries. Support various departments, including remote locations, as needed. Provide excellent customer service—making both patients and internal teams feel supported whether in person or over the phone.
What You Bring
3+ years of experience in a hospital or acute-care setting (required) Experience using EPIC (strongly preferred) Knowledge of medical terminology Strong communication and customer service skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and professionalism Bilingual Spanish-speaking skills are a strong plus
