Role & seniority: Cyber Security Test Engineer (Contract)
Stack / tools: C, Java, Python, CAPL; diagnostic tools (CAN, Ethernet, flashing/coding); knowledge of UNECE R155/R156, ISO/SAE 21434
Lead and maintain cyber security test environments; prepare vehicles/test benches (flashing, coding, debugging, issue resolution)
Develop and execute cyber security test cases aligned to global regulations and secure vehicle development
Deliver clear test reports and support global homologation, compliance testing, and lifecycle testing
Hands-on automotive cyber security testing with practical testing experience
Software development/scripting proficiency (C, Java, Python, CAPL)
Test planning, coordination, and delivery management; familiarity with global automotive standards/regulations
Penetration testing experience
Experience in cross-functional, fast-paced environments

About the Person We’re looking for a Cyber Security Test Engineer to join our growing team on a full-time, hybrid basis in Crewe. In this pivotal role, you’ll take responsibility for planning, preparing, and executing cyber security testing for automotive systems. Your work will ensure compliance & safeguarding vehicles against emerging cyber threats and maintain the highest security standards across global markets.
Key Skills & Experience The ideal candidate will be a results-driven Cyber Security Test Engineer with a proven track record of delivering high-quality product security testing, ideally within the automotive industry. You’ll bring a strong technical foundation, practical experience in cyber security testing, and a clear understanding of global automotive standards and regulations. Collaboration, adaptability, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment are key to success in this role.
Systems/Tools Experience
Diagnostic Tools: Experience with diagnostic tools CAN, Ethernet, diagnostics, flashing/coding etc. Proficiency in software development or scripting languages such as C, Java, Python, and CAPL is required.
Vehicle Communication: Knowledge of regulations and standards such as UNECE R155, R156, ISO/SAE 21434 Cyber security within automotive and test required.
Please note, this role is deemed outside of IR35 – you will be operating as a Limited company Contractor.
