About The Role
Amber Labs is seeking an experienced Azure Automation Test Engineer to join our dynamic consultancy on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This hybrid role requires 2 days per week onsite in Newcastle for the first 3 months, with the option to reduce onsite commitments after that period.
You’ll play a pivotal role in automating testing for infrastructure and deployment pipelines, helping to ensure resilient, performant, and secure delivery across modern cloud-native platforms. Working alongside DevOps engineers, developers, and cloud architects, you’ll help embed testing at every stage of the delivery process.
This role is best suited to candidates with strong experience in Infrastructure and Deployment Testing, especially those with hands-on exposure to tools and platforms like AWS, Terraform, Docker, and modern CI/CD tooling.
Key Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain automated testing frameworks for cloud infrastructure and deployments Conduct testing across infrastructure layers, APIs, and system integrations to validate platform functionality and reliability Integrate test automation into modern CI/CD pipelines to support continuous delivery and infrastructure validation Validate Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) deployments using Terraform, Bicep, or similar tools Test containerised solutions (e.g., Docker) within orchestrated environments Perform a range of testing types, including functional, non-functional, performance, and security testing Collaborate closely with engineering and DevOps teams to identify and resolve test failures or deployment issues Support and promote shift-left testing and DevSecOps practices across delivery teams Ensure all testing aligns with security, compliance, and public sector standards
Essential Skills & Experience
Active SC Clearance – Candidates must hold current SC clearance or be SC eligible to be considered Strong, hands-on experience in Infrastructure and Deployment Testing – this is mandatory Background in test automation within cloud and DevOps ecosystems Experience with cloud platforms – AWS experience preferrable
