**Top 3 responsibilities: **

Execute automation projects per customer requirements (estimating input, design reviews, programming, installation/commissioning support)

Specify and implement control system hardware/software and solve technical issues independently

Interface with stakeholders (engineers, PMs, electricians, vendors, customers) to ensure customer satisfaction and successful delivery

Extensive process control experience; Rockwell PlantPAx (preferred/required as stated)

Full Description
Position Overview
As a Senior Automation Engineer at Pieper Automation, you will execute automation projects, ensuring they meet customer needs and requirements. This role involves project engineering, programming, and cultivating customer relationships to drive repeat business and growth. You will work independently or as part of a project team, travel 50-90% as needed for system commissioning, and communicate effectively with customers and various levels of personnel.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering and Programming
Execute projects based on customer specifications and needs. Involved in project estimating, design reviews, programming, installation and commissioning support.
Technical Expertise
Specify control systems hardware and software per customer requirements. Solve problems independently and suggest solutions to internal and external customers. Demonstrate commitment to building technical skills through continuous education. Provide guidance and mentorship of others.
Collaboration And Communication
Interface and communicate effectively with various stakeholders including engineers, project managers, electricians, vendors, customers, and company leadership.
Customer Relationships
Ensure customer satisfaction through successful project execution and effective communication. Build and maintain relationships to foster repeat business and growth.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience
10+ years in the automation field.
Skills
Extensive experience in Process Control required, preferably with Rockwell PlantPAx Distributed Control Systems. Extensive knowledge and experience in control system design, machine safety, PLCs, SCADA/Operator Interfaces. Knowledge and experience in drive systems, robotics, and/or vision systems is a plus. Strong attention to detail, technical aptitude, and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities. Capable of working independently or within a team environment. Excellent communication skills and customer service orientation.
Other Requirements
Positive attitude towards safety and personal integrity are essential. Ability to travel up 50-90% of the time.
