Role: QA Engineer (Guidewire Cloud) — mid to senior level

Must-have skills

  • Hands-on experience testing Guidewire Cloud apps (PolicyCenter, BillingCenter)

  • Minimum Guidewire Associate Certification (ACE preferred)

  • Proven track in testing Property & Casualty insurance (personal lines)

  • Strong API testing, UI validation, and automation scripting abilities

  • Proficiency with QA tools, frameworks, version control; Agile/Scrum experience

  • Excellent problem-solving, attention to detail, and cross-functional communication

Nice-to-haves

  • Exposure to rating engines (e.g., Earnix) and insurance rating tools

  • Experience building/maintaining QA CI pipelines; performance testing

Full Description

Summary

The Guidewire QA Engineer will be responsible for testing and validating Guidewire Cloud applications, ensuring product quality and consistency across PolicyCenter and BillingCenter. This role involves developing automated and manual test cases, validating APIs and user interfaces, and collaborating closely with development and business teams to deliver reliable, high-performing insurance software solutions.

Responsibilities

Review and interpret complex test plans and designs to validate new and existing Guidewire functionality across Policy and Billing modules. Create and execute manual and automated test cases using best practices in quality engineering and software testing. Identify coverage gaps, missing test scenarios, and potential risks within test plans to strengthen quality assurance. Develop efficient, stable, and maintainable automated test code while adhering to QA standards and software development best practices. Collaborate with senior QA and development engineers to shape test strategies, define technical standards, and promote automation-first approaches. Validate APIs, user interfaces, and integrations within the Guidewire Cloud environment. Mentor junior QA team members, review test code, and provide constructive feedback to ensure consistency and maintainability. Partner with business analysts and subject matter experts to understand business rules, domain logic, and end-user requirements. Contribute to continuous improvement by enhancing automation coverage, reducing manual effort, and ensuring top-quality releases. Participate in Agile ceremonies and team discussions, providing input on design, scope, and prioritization of testing activities.

Requirements

Hands-on experience testing Guidewire Cloud applications, specifically PolicyCenter and BillingCenter. Minimum Guidewire Associate Certification required; ACE Certification preferred. Proven success in testing Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance, particularly within personal lines. In-depth knowledge of API testing, UI validation, and automation frameworks. Ability to translate complex test designs into executable automated test scripts. Familiarity with modern QA tools, frameworks, and version control systems. Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and communication skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams. Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments with iterative release cycles.

Preferred

Exposure to rating engines including Earnix or other insurance rating tools. Experience in building and maintaining continuous integration pipelines for QA automation. Knowledge of performance testing tools and practices. Experience with Cloud-based QA environments and monitoring tools. Background in mentoring or coaching QA team members in automation practices.
