Test, troubleshoot and repair electronics units using standard and company developed test equipment and analyze results to evaluate performance. Read wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, and engineering instructions for testing and repairing electronics units applying knowledge of electronic theory, circuit analysis and components. Work with design engineers when necessary.
Sets up standard test apparatus and conducts functional, operational and environmental tests in accordance with applicable procedures to evaluate performance and reliability of circuit boards and systems.
Assemble experimental circuitry or complete prototype model according to engineering instructions, rough sketches or plans, technical manuals, and knowledge of electronic systems and components.
Recommend changes in circuitry or installation specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance.
Maintain daily system logs and manuals to document testing and operation of equipment. Utilize working knowledge of state-of-the-art tools, software, etc., through reading and/or attending conferences, workshops or other training. Write reports and record data on testing techniques, and specifications. Develop and write testing procedures.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required. SMT and through hole component replacement and soldering experience desired. 3+ years of demonstrated success testing, troubleshoot and repairing complex production electronic circuit boards and system level equipment in an OEM industry. Able to read and interpret schematic diagrams, technical manuals and related information. Excellent computer skills including; Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint). Knowledge of Gerber software, a plus. Ability to learn new skills and tasks as required. Good verbal and written communication skills required. Ability to perform at the highest level in a fast-paced environment. Ability to work as a team member. Other duties as assigned.
AA in electronics or certification of completion of US Navy or US Air Force electronics technician training.
