SimoTech is seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to join our team , supporting a large multinational pharmaceutical client based in Cork. This role is part of a significant manufacturing campus dedicated to the global supply of active pharmaceutical ingredients for innovative medicines.
As a Senior Automation Engineer, you will join a collaborative engineering projects team, responsible for defining, planning, and delivering DeltaV projects. You will provide strategic oversight and technical guidance to the team, ensuring project delivery aligns with industry best practices and standards.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience leading automation engineering teams in a pharmaceutical environment, with a strong track record in managing DeltaV technical projects.

Lead and oversee output of the team, such as, but not limited to generation, review and approval of design and test specifications, DeltaV application software configuration and supporting commissioning activities. Provide project oversight and technical guidance and to d ivide the project into manageable tasks, delegate responsibilities efficiently among team members, and proactively identify potential pitfalls and risks to ensure seamless project execution and timely delivery. Develop and provide expertise on process engineering design for specific processes and working closely with client process engineers and operations representatives. Lead design reviews and DeltaV application software reviews. Proactively collaborate with the Computer System Validation team to ensure output is in compliance with project validation and documentation requirements. Bachelor’s D egree in engineering , sciences or equivalent. 5 + years of working experience in b iopharma engineering, operations or manufacturing. 5 years’ experience in DeltaV batch automation design and Distributed Control System design is strongly desired . Process Engineering experience is strongly desired. Knowledge of GMPs, regulatory requirements, or computer system validation. Ability to interact and communicate with other engineering and business disciplines. Coding experience is required along with on-site experience in a pharmaceutical environment. Role provides a high degree of autonomy to allow the successful candidate to reach their full potential.
