Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Quality Test Engineer for a contract position based in Illinois. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in software testing, including manual and/or automated testing, test planning, defect tracking, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. This role is critical in ensuring the delivery of high-quality software products. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and execute manual and automated test cases based on business and technical requirements. Perform functional, regression, integration, system, smoke, and UAT testing. Identify, log, and track defects using tools such as JIRA, Azure DevOps, or similar. Collaborate closely with developers, product owners, and business analysts to ensure requirement clarity and proper validation. Participate in test planning, estimation, and review meetings. Validate data using SQL queries and perform API testing using tools like Postman.
Required Skills & Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience). 3–5+ years of experience as a Quality Test Engineer, QA Analyst, or similar role. Strong knowledge of QA methodologies, SDLC, and STLC. Experience with test management tools such as TestRail, Zephyr, qTest, etc. Hands-on knowledge of API testing and SQL for data validation. Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and communication abilities. Preferred Skills (Nice to Have) Experience with test automation using Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, or similar. Knowledge of CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps. Performance testing experience (JMeter, LoadRunner). ISTQB or similar QA certifications.
