Job Description – QA / QC Engineer
Reports to: Senior QA/QC Engineer
Job Description
- The QAQC Engineer is responsible for developing, evaluating and improving manufacturing methods. The QAQC Engineer utilises knowledge of product design, materials, parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality assurance and quality control standards to improve manufacturing methods.
Duties and Responsibilities
Attend Project Kick-off Meeting / Pre-Inspection Meeting as per IMS requirements. Review and approve vendor documents. ITP, Procedures, WPS, PQR, and WPQT based on project needs and contractual requirements for the vendor and sub-vendor components. Perform inspection activities which includes Jord free issue items per approved drawings, inspection and test plan, manufacturing process, welding procedures and other applicable documents related to project execution. Weekly Inspection reports shall be created and distributed for all attended job inspection activities. Report shall include inspection activities, Outstanding issues, Upcoming inspection plans and Bottleneck as a minimum Perform supplier shop audits when required to assess compliance to standards and to the Jord Integrated Management System (Quality, Environment, and Health & Safety), including investigation, presentation of observations and findings, and reporting Apply sound systematic problem-solving methodologies in identifying, and prioritizing. communication, and resolving quality issues. Maintain testing equipment by keeping a centralized and up-to-date register for all testing instruments issued including equipment calibration records. Progressive signing off ITP upon completion of each stage or activity. Coordinate with clients and third-party inspectors for inspection stages including issue of inspection requests according to the agreed format and time frame Communicate to project managers any quality issues and assist in resolving the identified issues as quickly as possible and propose proactive measures to prevent any possible re-work or non-conformance Monitor and control inspection activities associated with the Project Quality Objectives and Key Performance Indicators. Create event notes for any non-compliance noticed during fabrication or final stage as applicable and prepare a lesson-learned activity, distribute the same for validation. Review fabricator's inspection reports and testing reports and ensure compilation of manufacturer's data record (MDR). Issue weekly progress inspection reports using Jord's Inspection database. Issue updated OA planning schedule every week for the allotted jobs. Manage customer-issued NCRs and track them through closure. Follow-up required corrective and preventive actions as a result of supplier qualification (or re-qualification) audits, and project surveillance audits. Issue Final Inspection release note upon completion of all inspection activities and release for dispatch
Stop work when
- People’s health and Safety are at risk, i.e., due to non-usage of PPE, lack of safety equipment, poor quality, equipment, and machinery
- Quality-related processes and relevant approved documentation are not strictly followed
- Conducting internal audits at various office premises as per the approved internal audit checklists and Jord IMS system compliance requirements.
- Adhere to all Jord company policies and IMS requirements
Skills and Experience
- Relevant Tertiary Qualifications in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum 5 years shop experience in pressure vessels according to ASME Sec VIII/ Sec IX /Sec V, preferably with Pressure Vessel / Heat Exchangers / Storage Tanks experience
- Recommended to have international recognized certification like NDE (RT / PT / MT / UT / Welding / Painting / Auditing, etc)
- Knowledge of quality assurance, quality control methods, principles, and practices, including statistical analysis and sampling techniques
- Knowledge of receipt inspection, welding, non-destructive testing, post weld heat treatment, testing, painting and packing methods for products and processes
- Knowledge of inspection, test, and measurement techniques
- Experience in interpreting and applying product specifications, technical data, regulations, policy statements, and other guideline materials
- Experience in conducting studies and investigations, problem analysis, and developing logical and documented recommendations
- Proficient English written and oral communication skills
- The ability to build effective interpersonal relationships within and outside the organisation
