Full Description
MTSI is seeking an experienced Aircrew Test Systems Engineer to support the development, integration, and evaluation of advanced training devices for aircrew operations in an advanced air platform program. This role involves designing and verifying test and training device functionality, ensuring seamless integration with platform systems and alignment with operational requirements. The ideal candidate will leverage expertise in test systems engineering, training simulation technologies, and platform-specific requirements to advance mission-critical capabilities for national defense.
Responsibilities
Training Device Development & Integration
- Develop and design aircrew training systems to simulate flight operations, mission profiles, and platform-specific functionality.
- Integrate training and testing systems with advanced avionics, mission software, sensors, and communications subsystems.
Test Systems Design & Execution
- Plan and execute detailed test procedures to validate aircrew training device performance and alignment with operational requirements.
- Conduct functional and systems integration testing for device interoperability with real-world air platform subsystems.
- Use simulation tools and data analysis software to assess system performance during testing.
Requirements Analysis & Validation
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define requirements and functional capabilities of aircrew test and training devices.
- Ensure alignment with aerospace and DoD standards for both training systems and integrated technologies.
System Performance Evaluation
- Use advanced metrics and tools to measure system accuracy, responsiveness, and usability in simulated training environments.
- Identify and troubleshoot system deficiencies, coordinating solutions with cross-functional engineering teams.
Documentation & Reporting
- Develop comprehensive technical documentation such as test plans, performance summaries, and system validation reports.
- Communicate testing results and recommendations to program managers, engineering leads, and customers.
Compliance & Standards
- Ensure all test and training systems comply with MIL-STD specifications, RMF (Risk Management Framework), and cybersecurity requirements.
- Support certification and field deployment of aircrew training systems.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field. 7+ years of experience in systems engineering, aircrew training devices, or test system development for aerospace programs. Proficiency in developing test plans, test cases, and systems documentation for complex technical systems. Experience working with simulation environments and tools for flight training devices (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink, or similar platforms). Strong knowledge of advanced air platform systems, including avionics, sensors, propulsion, and tactical communications. Must possess an active Top Secret clearance with eligibility for SCI.
Desired
12+ years of experience in systems engineering, aircrew training devices, or test system development for aerospace programs.
Certifications that validate expertise in systems engineering and training device development
INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP): Demonstrates proficiency in systems engineering practices.
PMP (Project Management Professional): For candidates involved in managing technical program timelines.
Certified Modeling & Simulation Professional (CMSP): Applicable for developing simulation-based training systems.
CompTIA Security+ or CISSP: For managing secure training systems in compliance with DoD cybersecurity requirements.
Certified Test & Evaluation Professional (CTEP): Recognized expertise in evaluating systems performance.
Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) Certification: Applicable for advanced training systems integrating spatial data. Familiarity with aircrew training methodologies and mission planning tools such as JMPS (Joint Mission Planning System). Knowledge of sensor fusion technologies and their application in aircrew operations training. Experience developing interactive training modules for aircrew simulations, including VR and AR technologies. Working knowledge of DoD standards, including MIL-STD-810 (environmental testing) and MIL-HDBK-516C (airworthiness certification).
