Ubicquia is currently recruiting for a Firmware Quality Assurance Engineer. The candidate will be a highly motivated Engineer who is interested in working in a lean, Agile, entrepreneurial environment. The engineer must have an enthusiastic, creative, and collaborative personality to work with our teams to enhance and develop new and exciting products. Working with the development team, you will ensure the best possible Firmware, Software, and user experience. Design and implement strategies for quality coordination and testing as well as suggesting solutions to identified quality problems utilizing these key skills; leadership, debugging, critical thinking, problem solving, investigation, team player, interpersonal skills, open collaboration and attention-to-detail. A customer first mindset you can help shape the future of our products. STRONG EXPERIENCE in testing wireless devices embedded firmware as well as strong EE background is a must to be successful.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Work with new technologies that are vital to product development. Successfully collaborate with both software and hardware product teams. Methodically review user stories, acceptance criteria, and product requirements with customer experience in mind to assure interfaces are consistent and meet the functionality. Collaborate with cross functional Product Development teams to understand the requirement and validate the are testable. Work with firmware engineers to better understand the proposed design solutions and offer constructive input. Participate in design, UI, API, Firmware, and testing case reviews. Translate high level product requirements to firmware test scenarios. Create detailed, comprehensive and well-structured test plans. Estimate, prioritize, plan and coordinate testing activities. Develop timely and accurate software testing status reports and metrics to distribute to the engineering team. Execute functional and regression test plans for firmware releases. Consistently enter and track defects/bugs found in JIRA and perform thorough regression testing when bugs are resolved. Interface with engineers of various disciplines such as hardware, software, etc. to understand the technology and determine root cause of problems. Enthusiastically research new tools, technologies, and testing processes.

Required Skills And Qualifications

Bachelor's or higher in Electrical/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a relevant engineering discipline. 8+ years of experience in embedded software/firmware quality assurance and/or embedded software/firmware development. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Critical thinker, problem-solving skills and logical thinking skills. Have ability to learn quickly and maintain a positive attitude. Self-starter capable of working independently as well as a team player. Experience with hardware and/or software development lifecycle processes. Understand how Firmware works and have strong knowledge on embedded firmware testing. Experience or understanding of firmware design tools, languages, debugging and analyze results. Experience in writing unit and system level test requirements and test cases. Experience with Jira/Confluence or other project management and bug tracking software. Experience in writing clear concise and comprehensive firmware test scenarios, test cases and test plans. Experience in code development and/or scripting language such as Python and experience with Unix/Linux systems software (OS and commands, ex. Shell scripts, OS and configuration). Show more Show less
