Role & seniority: Senior/Lead Systems Engineer (reports to Systems Engineer Lead) within Waymo’s Systems Engineering team
Stack/tools: Verification and Validation (V&V) for vehicle systems; domains include Power, Thermal Management, Infotainment, Networks, Body Controls, Cybersecurity; test planning; test automation (C/C++, Python, MATLAB/Simulink); software-in-the-loop, component and full-vehicle HIL testing; data analysis; scripting; test equipment and analysis tooling
Own and develop V&V strategy for new/existing autonomous vehicle platforms; plan and schedule V&V campaigns
Coordinate, supervise, and execute verification activities; design tests and review requirements; align with internal and external OEM partners
Lead test automation and qualification of new Waymo driver software releases; provide technical training and support to Test Engineers
Project management and ability to translate scope, resources, and timelines into schedules; trade-off communication
Strong communication, coordination, and collaboration for parallel test activities
Test planning/design for safety and repeatability; data analysis and test scripting/automation (C/C++, Python, MATLAB/Simulink)
Bachelor’s or Master’s in engineering (ME, EE, CS, Robotics, Controls, Aerospace, etc.) or equivalent experience
Electromechanical systems design, build, and troubleshoot experience
