Role & seniority: Test and Lab Communication Engineer (early-career), focused on hands-on lab, field, and test work for satellite communication systems.
Stack/tools: Embedded systems, SW/FPGA validation, development kits, JTAG, spectrum analyzers, signal generators; CI/CD for software releases; Linux/RTOS, Python, MATLAB, C/C++; familiarity with VCS (Git).
Create test setups/environments to validate radio links in SW/FPGA; build automated test benches and unit tests.
Debug firmware and validate L1-L2 communication with FPGA/HW teams; support FPGA-SW integration.
Maintain lab assets, analyze data, prepare design-review reports, and contribute to ground-station studies and calibrations.
Bachelor’s/Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Computer/Communication Sciences, Data Processing, or related field; some embedded systems/lab/testing experience.
Basic programming/scripting (Python, MATLAB, C/C++, Linux/RTOS); familiarity with test equipment (JTAG, spectrum analyzer, VNA, signal generator).
Curiosity, willingness to learn, collaborative attitude.
Experience with Xilinx FPGA, DMA, ARM architecture; ETSI DVB-S2X or CCSDS standards.
Version control familiarity (Git); space/communication domain exposure.
Location & work type: Hybrid work model; minimum 3 days per week in-office in the U.S. export-controlled environment; potential license access as needed.
As part of the development of a new and advanced communication system we are looking for a Test and Lab Communication Engineer help develop and validate software and firmware for satellite communication systems. This role is hands-on and focused on lab, field and test works: you will work closely with experienced engineers to implement, test, and troubleshoot data link features on COTS ground equipment, embedded systems and proprietary communication hardware. This position is a great fit for someone early in their career who enjoys practical experimentation, learning by doing, and contributing to real-world and next-gen space communication technologies.
